Jayd, how long have you had your Thermomix?  If the 12wbt challenge recipes are doable in the Thermomix, anyone with a bit of experience should be able to adapt some recipes but without seeing any of the recipes myself, I daresay not many would be.

I wouldn't leave your email address on your posting, you leave yourself wide open to spammers.  People can contact you via pm through the forum if they wish to respond to your enquiry.

Good luck with the challenge.

There's a 12wbt Thermomix group on Facebook, where some of the recipes have been converted and members discuss the best way to convert recipes. It's a secret group though and you need to be added before you can join. PM if you like and I can try and add you.

I agree with Judy, if you've had your TMX for awhile and are comfortable converting recipes, the 12wbt recipes are easily converted.

I start 12wbt on monday! I'd love to be added to the secret group Katie :)
From what I've seen I wss thinking my TMX would be on light duties for the next 12 weeks so would be very interesred to hear otherwise.
Have you enjoyed the 12wbt Katie?

I have done some of the 12 wbt over a year ago and most of the recipes are quick to make anyway and you can't really use  TMX for. I am part of this facebook group too but I can't say I see too many people converting anything on there.

I agree, a lot of the recipes are quick and its just as easy to cook them using traditional methods.

There are quite a lot of conversions on the FB page, under "files".  They only show ingredients and not actual amounts, as to not infringe on 12wbt copyright.

Jam I will pm you...

Michelle Bridges Boot, here's (https://www.12wbt.com/) the link.

Thanks Judy that was quick information thank you.
Think it is a bit expensive for me.
I have Michelle Bridges recipe book and the CSIRO books which we use a lot and have had success with weight loss over past 5 years.
Thought the 12 wbt might give us a boost or inspiration. So not for us.
But her recipes are great.
Good luck to everyone one the journey.
I would love to hear how you get on.

Bootobethin I love the CSIRO books. I lost 30kg with those. I have put back some of it, but have  lost 3kg very recently with the help of my fitbit. So another 6-7kg and I will be back to what I was then. It took me about 2 years to lose the weight so I hadn't too much trouble keeping it off. It doesn't make me slim by any means but I only want to be a healthy me, not s super shapely one. A nice healthy, round , pudding is my shape.

Cookie, DH and I lost some weight with those books too a few years ago.  I still use the recipes and the books are a bit tattered! I love them!
I decided to try the 12wbt due to the exercise component which I know is my problem! I've got 5kg I want to shift since starting a desk job last year.
DH and I are really enjoying the food so far... I've done it exactly by the "book" /web so far and have lost 1 kilogram in 3 days! I wonder if it will keep going!

Jam, I'm joining for the next round as well. I've never been on a diet or eating plan in my life but really need some structure at the moment and this looks like i could fit it in with our life as long as I'm organised.  Will be interested to hear your progress.

Katie are you part way through a round? If so how are you going?
Title: Re: 12wbt
Post by: Katiej on April 02, 2014, 01:51:48 am
I've just started week 9.  Weigh in day today (Wednesday) and I'm down another kg, so that's 7.5kg's lost in total.  I'm happy with that, but it really is just a start on what I need to lose.

I'm doing the beginners weight loss program, which would be different to the program you'd probably choose Wonder.

I'm really enjoying it, the recipes are nice and the mindset videos are a real help to me.  The last couple of weeks I haven't always cooked 12wbt recipes though and have been mixing in my own favourite recipes, but concentrating on good choices and portion control.

I haven't really followed her exercise program and have been doing my own thing - which is 10,000 steps a day and going to the gym 3 (sometimes 4) times a week.  12wbt recommend 6 gym visits a week, but time wise I can only fit in 3 most weeks.

Thanks Katie, I'll be really interested to read all the program information. Not sure how I'll fit everything in but hoping with the structure I'll be ok. I'm pretty good if I'm told what to do just not good if I have to think it up.
Title: Re: 12wbt
Post by: cookie1 on April 02, 2014, 03:39:54 am
Congratulations Katie. That is an impressive loss. I think it is important to sometimes put your own foods in, as at the end of any program we need to return to our own foods. I firmly believe portion size is very important. I've found my portion size has crept up over the years. I am now trying hard to reduce it.
Super duper effort.

Title: Re: 12wbt
Post by: Katiej on April 02, 2014, 08:22:06 am
Thanks Cookie - I agree portion size is the key. I can easily avoid all the bad foods and sugar, it's the amount of food I serve (and eat) that's always been the problem. Getting better though!

Thanks Denise!

Wonder,  I'm doing the Intermediate program for fitness and the regular weight loss program. I really like how the meals are balanced and you know you are getting all the nutrients you need.

The key is being organised.  When the menu plans are released I make some swaps then straight into online shopping to have it delivered.  I also prep as much as I can early in the week as I need to have it ready so I make good choices!

I didn't think I would like the mindset videos but I do watch them and they are more motivating than I thought they would be. Good luck,  I'm sure you will like it :)

Thanks Jamberie, I think I'll be following the same program as you are doing so will be interested to hear how you go. I told the family last night and DS was horrified to think they might all need to eat "diet food". I'll really have to work on the menu plan side of things to balance out what I need to eat vs what the family will be happy with. I'm really looking forward to starting.

Luckily the meal plans are super easy to customise. I just make sure I have enough pasta, rice, bread etc to fill up my DD (only three, so doesn't eat as much as your kids would) and DH has decided to follow my mral plan with a few extra snacks. The food is yummy, if you didn't tell them they probably wouldn't know you were on a diet,  just clean eating!
I wish I had tried a few of the recipes before I officially 'started' and made a few dishes to stock up the freezer... but I'm getting there. I look foreard to hearing how everyone finds it too :)

Jamberie and Katie how are you going? You must be coming to the end of your plan as mine starts in about 9 days.

I've started getting back to more exercise and concentrating on smaller portion sizes so I'll be more prepared for the start. Unfortunately DH's surprise 50th party is only 5 days in so I'm not going to have a good first week but should be right after that.

Tomorrow is the last day of my 12 weeks Wonder.
I've enjoyed it and I've got into a routine of going to the gym and eating smaller portions.  I've lost 8 kgs, quite a few cm's and have gone down a size in clothes.

I did want to lose 12kgs during the 12wbt, so I'm not entirely happy.  I did slacken off towards the end (I went to Broken Hill with my sister to visit Dad and to Melbourne with DH at Easter and I ate a lot more than I should have).  I also felt a bit stifled towards the end when it came to cooking.  I love finding recipes in books, online, from lots of places and it was hard to stick to 12wbt recipes, so I didn't!

I'm not going to sign up for another round of 12wbt, but I'm going to continue with the exercise, choosing healthy recipes and focusing on smaller portion size, so I hope to lose more weight.

Good luck when you start in 9 days time  ;D

Wow Katie! You've done so well!

I started of really well, and then had a funeral (interstate) and never really picked up the exercise part...then there was Easter where we stayed with family and it would have been very rude to eat differently to the family so I reduced portion sizes where I could. -but I'm not using those as excuses, that's just life! I'm getting back into it again this week and hope to do more exercise.

I miss my usual cooking too, but have been using myfitnesspal to calculate calories if I really want to eat/cook something. I've still got 6 weeks to go and about a kilo per week to loose, so I'll see how I go. I'm not sure if I'll continue or not, but am very pleased to have started and highly recommend it :)

Well I'm already into week 9 and can't believe how quickly the time goes. I've really enjoyed being on the program and have lost just over 5kgs and hoping to loose another 3 before the end. I haven't been as strict as a lot of people and on the weekends particularly have been going out or having our normal meals but during the week I've been sticking pretty much to the plan. I was using this to get some structure back into my exercise and to get a handle on portion size. I've been tailoring the meal plan to our family and so far we have a few new favourites, I've also tailored the exercise plan to suit me needing to walk the dogs at least a couple of times a week and to schedule my long training session on a Sunday to fit in with DS's long basketball training session. I've tried hard to keep to 6 days exercise per week and burning around 500 calories per session which the program recommends. My sister has convinced me to do the Melbourne half marathon in October as she will be here to run the full marathon so I think I'll join up for another round at the end of this one to keep access to the training and meal plans for another 12 weeks. Now that I'm almost at my original goal I think I could loose a few more so will see how I go. I would highly recommend the program even to get a good understanding or portion size, daily food intake and good varied exercise programs.

Title: Re: 12wbt
Post by: Wonder on July 01, 2014, 02:26:58 am
I think it would be Bedlam. They offer quite a lot of different programs from unfit all the way through to super fit, and those trying to loose over 100kg to those not trying to loose any weight. I browse the forums quite a bit and notice there seem to be quite a few older people and many who don't seem to have exercised in the past. The one thing a lot of people seem to struggle with is that it's all online and it seems a bit complicated at the start but once you realise how to tailor your weekly meal plan to suit it becomes much easier. I change my meal plan as I always have a green smoothie for breakfast,  alternate between only a few different lunches (cuts down waste, time and expense) but I try and stick to her dinner options. The other thing I don't do is have any snacks as I haven't given up having coffee with full cream milk so have to use my snack calories on my coffee!!

Title: Re: 12wbt
Post by: Wonder on July 01, 2014, 07:41:03 am
suzanne, I'm finding the daily gym programs are really great and she also has a lot of online classes if you want to do one at home. I've done a couple of those, and have been doing the yoga one a couple of times a week and find they have been great so far. I'm on the intermediate gym program and have found the daily programs to be a little better than i was getting with my PT, more varied and because there are guidlines on the levels for everything have found I've really pushed myself to get through them. I try and do all the toning and strength ones but will swap some of the cardio sessions for either a long walk with both dogs if I have time or a shorter jog with my younger dog. The programs are a miniumum of 1hr and you are supposed to do 6 days a week so it's quite a time commitment, but again if you need to alter you can. I'm planning on going back and keeping a copy of all my meal plans including recipes and also the workout plans so I can continue to use them once I'm finished with the program.

Thought i would add my final update to this thread for anyone interested, sorry it will be a bit long. i finished the 12 weeks yesterday and am very happy with the outcome although now know I'm capable of much more than I originally thought. I estimated I followed the program about 80%, I've been pretty good with exercising at the suggested rate of approx 1 hour 4 days a week and an extra long session of 2hrs one day, i've used a mixture of the gym, walking the dogs and jogging to fit in with my life although most of it's been early mornings. I've also used her online yoga class although not as much as i was planning, so thats something for me to work on. With the food I've stuck to my green smoothies most days, which while within the calorie count aren't a part of her program, a few days I've used her breakfast ideas and the recipes have been really lovely. I've also followed her plans for most lunch and dinners 4/5 nights per week  with the family all enjoying the same meals. We still eat out at least once a week and have some other family favourite meals where i don't worry about calories but just watch my portion size a little more than I used to but I've never felt like i've been on diet. I've also been enjoying the odd wine or 2, particulalry on weekends.  i ended up losing at total of 7kg (11% of my body weight)  and my goal was 8kg so i'm really happy, I've also lost 30.5cm from my hips, bust, thighs and waist and my fitness has almost doubled based on the program test. I've adjusted my goal to lose a  further 4kg and have a few fitness goals  so am joining again for the August round and  will hopefully lose the 4kg in the first half and then look at maintining that for the longer term. While we have always eaten quite well and don't have a sweet tooth I've realised my portion sizes were well overstated and the quantity of meat to vegetables was out of balance, the family have also learnt a bit about portion sizes and snacking so all up I'm happy with the program and think it's quite a sustainable lifestyle for me.

SoBlessed, you would probably like the meal plans. .. there are very few prepackaged/preserved/processed foods, little to no sugar and not much flour or potatoes :) you might be able to request a sample of the meal plans...a few weeks ago they offered a sample menu plan I think.

Title: Re:
Post by: Jamberie on July 27, 2014, 12:56:31 pm
Although there are breads etc I'm sure you could adapt to what suits you :) and the menu plans are completely customiseable.
Title: Re: 12wbt
Post by: Wonder on July 27, 2014, 10:50:53 pm
SoBlessed, as Jamberie has answered the meal plans are all customiseable so you could include only those dishes you are able to eat. I need to customise quite a bit to ensure I'm not making two meals and to take out and fish dishes. I also don't believe in eating low fat products so I always substitute for the standard product and not worry about the extra calories, as I said I'm fortunate to be losing without strict adherence to the calorie count so happy to use her recipes and meal plans as a base and work around them.

Katie, some of our favourites are:
- buttermilk pancakes with strawberries and bananna or we just heat up bluberries for a sauce which we find sweet enough with no sugar. I also normally take the few spoons of sugar out of the pancake mixture
- whole grain toast spread with ricotta and warmed mixed berries (this has become a favourit of DD for breakfast)
- chicken tikka. I use the TMX Tikka paste and then you only need a little stock powder, water and coconut cream. This has become a family favourite
- beef and broccolini stir fry
- I've been having cauliflower rice with anything that the family have normal rice
- sweet and sour pork. I always use fresh pineapple
- most of the stir fry recipes have been good and are quick to make
- steak with mushroom sauce and beans
Remembered a few more during the day
- cupcake quiches
- not so naughty nachos
- terayki stir fry, we did beef but cant remember if that was the actual recipe
