Jams and Chutneys / Re: Basic Blackberry Jam
« on: February 19, 2016, 11:57:09 am »
Must try this with frozen blackberries; we used to pick them in the bush when we were children but now cant do that as the bushes have been treated and don't have fruit; they were over taking the bush apparently.

I made this but they were mashed up quite a bit but still they get mashed up in cooking so I am not worried. Only problem was that the fridge got a bit crowded and my jar fell out and smashed. Will make some more though but I could have cried because it was beautiful fresh garlic. A real Oops moments.

This morning made Gerts Sledging biscuits for the mens morning tea and a slice for us. Made peach and raspberry ice cream last night from Emerald Sues recipe, just changing the fruit, very nice.

I made biscuits this morning for the mens morning tea and as the oven was hot, and also the kitchen, I made a batch of bread rolls (in under an hour ones) and now have made a curry from Skinnymixers Indian book. I didn't have lamb so used beef; hope it works.

Have friends for supper tonight but have some cake in the freezer which is nice cold.

Have a good time Cookie; we go down there a bit now that our daughter lives there.

Funny how we are all so different and then not so different. We don't use electric blankets in Perth and I don't like winter sheets although I gave in this year for DH. I also make my own Lux wool mix; found the recipe when I first left home and love it. We are sweltering here at the moment; it was 30 when I got up at 6am and looked on the pateo.

Go for it Culdith and use the gel; we are only young once. After my nap this afternoon I am not feeling so young at the moment but will pick up after a cuppa (where is that DH). Blanket absolutely gorgeous Mab.

I have tried to clean the saucepan and used the vinegar and water method (thanks Cookie) and once method also said to use a bit of carb soda and I almost have a new saucepan with just a few spots to be rubbed. Think I had better go and find my own cuppa.

To add to the mess I was not concentrating last night and blackened my stainless steel saucepan; got the potato off and most of the gunk but still have black on the bottom where the food stuck. Cant remember how I have cleaned pots before as its quite a while since I did anything like this.

Bread / Re: NY Style Pizza dough- Cold proofed

I don't mind how it is eaten and like the idea of being able to get the dough ready and have it in the fridge for when the GC come to stay.

Good news Culdith; I would be worried too.

I haven't been on for a while and loved hearing all the stories of things we treasure especially the wedding cake. Wish I had kept a piece of mine but at least I still have DH. I am a bit of a hoarder and can never get rid of anything so of course my house is a bit of a mess.
