Cookie I used honey, but it says you can use golden syrup.
I will make some with golden syrup and see which we like.  My staff are eating it at work.
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

I haven't made honeycomb for years but I always used golden syrup in mine.  Always popular with kids

I made a chicken & vegetable pasta bake this morning and have some date scones in the oven at the moment..

Thanks Robyn.
Margaret I love date scones. Probably too much.

I'm doing my weekly bread today as we were out yesterday.

No cooking here at the moment. We went out to The Honey House for coffee with the Model A mob.

Judy, I have made lots of baked goodies with the Gluten free flour and haven’t like any.  Different commercial GF flour have different ingredients. Think I might have a go at making my own blend. I think it may be the rice flour that is the problem.
I think that Golden Syrup give a stronger flavour to the honeycomb.  It also camouflages the carb soda.
Chow mien also makes lovely Spring rolls. I use the spring roll wrappers and brush them with garlic flavoured olive oil and cook 10 minutes in AF. Lovely.

I’ve done those delicious spring rolls as well Chookie.  Good luck with your GF flour experiments.

Bought the most beautiful Choc chips and Caramel chips at the Essential ingredient.  Think I will make a big batch of biscuits today.  I have finally decided on a recipe that I like best.  Will post if it works again today. What I have aimed at is a light crisp buttery base with small chunks of flavour from chocolate dried cherries and walnuts.

I love using dried cherries and blueberries. When ever I see them for sale somewhere I buy up.

Made the Choc chip biscuits and yes they are good.  I know this because I have had to hide them from Ral.  :-*
They are based on a Dorie Greenspan recipe.  These contain rolled oats as well as flour.  What I like about them is that I can add another 3 cups of additional goodies.  I add walnuts, dried cherries and white choc chips.  They make lots.
I also tried a new recipe by Adam Liaw. It is very suited to the TMX as it contains green tea which is ground to a powder.  I added these to the sugar to grind.  I learnt this tip from a cooking class with Tenina. These are a version of jam drop biscuits only richer.  More a short bread with an interesting flavour of the tea and marmalade jam drop.
Will post both recipes.

Lots of cooking this weekend - Scotch broth, baked beans (from scratch), sun dried tomato dressing / sauce for pasta; cauliflower, broccoli and rice casserole from RTE and roast vege frittata.  I also made the orange and almond cake I had a huge ooooppppss with a couple of weeks ago and had another oooppppssss with this one as well - the bottom of the springform tin dropped out as I was putting it in the oven!!  I managed to save enough to make a smaller cake!

Marina, feel for you and your Ooppppps moments.  Last night I made a double measure of custard for Portuguese Custard tarts. I wear head phones to watch the television.  I went to put the custard into the fridge and the head phones dropped into the custard.
Cooked roast pork and Chicken for lunch. Pancakes from posted recipe, frozen and reheated in microwave.  Good.

Marina you and Chookie have been busy. I made a mango fruit cake from The Annoyed Thyroid’s blog.  It is no added sugar and no fat. Very tasty too.

We really like it. I made mine in an 8 inch tin.

Oh Chookie, what a mess to your head phones ... that was worse than the time I lost my spectacles and hunted the house from top to bottom looking for them ... and eventually found them in the fridge!!
