Tasty, my first kitchen was tiny (2m by 1.5m!!!) - back when I was living in France and at uni- but it didn't stop me from cooking!  Actually remember quite a few good parties  ;D
One of my grand-mothers had a small kitchen for 40+ years and produced lovely dishes day after day. And, yes , the kitchen table was used for pastry or other food prep.
Bench space is a luxury!  In Australia I don't think that people always appreciate the amount of space they have...

My one regret is not taking a photo of the original kitchen when we bought our house. Now this was a home that was almost 50 years old when we bought it in 1989, had quite a few owners and the kitchen was still original. It had a sink with one cupboard underneath and a bench on one side with three drawers under that.  The bench measured approximately 60 cms wide and that was it!!! All preparation had to be done at the kitchen table, which thankfully I had a large one. So yes I am very appreciative of my still small but very workable bench space  ;D

Thought the newcomers might like to see a previous kitchen Quirky Jo had - now this is what you would call a small kitchen  ;)

Tasty I like your kitchen. It is wonderful and cosy. OUr first home (for 30+ YEARS) had a smaller kitchen and we made do, no pantry there. Now I have a much larger kitchen (7 years) and have managed to fill it up  I truly think we manage comfortably with what we have.

I'm still experimenting with my tablet, another attempt to post a photo that I took a few minutes ago from the kitchen window of the chalet we've been coming to for the last 4 or 5 years.

Wow how pretty chdv, an absolute lovely view but looks very cold.

And cookie1 I love your new profile pic, it really brightens up the pages.

Quirky Jo certainly did have a small kitchen and look at all the stuff she made in it!

CHDV - what a view! Can I come stay at your chalet for a weekend??

As for the small kitchen, I find my cupboards contain everything I need. In fact, I'm still trying to declutter. I have an electric frypan and something else that has been sitting in there from when we were engaged and a few other things I don't use. I might sell them off to someone who wants them on gumtree or ebay.
