Is the RTE garlic rice nice Mab?
I liked the look of that as well.  It will be interesting to get your feed back Mab.

Isn't it fantastic to have such wonderful neighbours ... the wee one sounds like a bit of a character and what a fun learning experience he has with you as neighbour.

Your gardens look good, Chookie.  They will be nice and easy to care for so you should get great harvests out of them.

After I finished my cooking for the day, spent a couple of hours raking up oak leaves which our kind neighbour had run over with his ride on mower to break them up so that I can put them into the compost.  I think I shifted about 5 barrow loads and there are still more lying, but they missed the mower so I don't want to put all of those ones into the compost.  I think I will just let them lie and break down naturally.

That would be interesting Chookie - I'll keep an eye open for the result.  I also thought a drop or two of liquid smoke might make a difference.

Thanks for the pikelet recipe, Chookie.  It looks like you have been flat out in the kitchen - also gave me inspiration to make tomato soup, which I haven't made for donkeys years.

Take it easy digging out those Bay trees, Chookie.  It will be exciting to get the raised beds and start using them - are they wicking beds?

I have just ordered an electric blanket from DJs, it is click and collect, also on on the first floor of the shop, so I might just HAVE to suss out those jaffles when I go in tomorrow!

I made these a week or two ago.  They were very nice, but I have a similar recipe which I prefer.  You are right, though, do lots as they shrink quite a lot!

Those rolls look great t me, Mab.

Today I am baking DH's family's gingerbread for morning tea visitor then cashew nut curry for dinner guests tonight and trying my luck at garlic naan by substituting pita bread from the supermarket for the naan to go with the curry.

Made stove top piklets with little boy I’m minding. He ate them as quickly as they came out of the pan. We had a lengthy discussion about the best jam. Strawberry won.
Very cute. I remember I was the same whenever mum make pikelets - she had to ban me from the kitchen!

If you don't mind sharing, what is your pikelet recipe as I don't have one and you have given me the urge to have a go.  Ta

It is always a shock to come back to a cold winter's day after being in a lovely hot climate, K Atie, at least it sounds like you have got good heating in your home.
