Title: Recipe Review: Pea and Mint Soup page 30 British Isles on a Plate
Post by: Cornish Cream on December 05, 2015, 04:04:05 pm
A cheap, quick, smooth delicious soup that I loved.I did cook the peas an extra couple of minutes.I added the mint to suit my own personal taste,I think 10g would have been overpowering. :-\

I'm not that keen on mint either CC, I never buy frozen minted peas.  Dad used to grow peas so when Mum cooked the  fresh peas I used to really enjoy drinking the water in which they were cooked - pea water, did anyone else do the same?

I got this recipe off Katie today, came home and made a batch.  Denise, your review was spot on and like you I only added a small amount of mint (10 small leaves from my garden). I used boiling water so there was no need to cook the peas any extra time as you did.  This is a great recipe if unexpected visitors arrive on your doorstep at mealtime and normal frozen peas work well.  I only buy the more expensive baby peas but I stopped off at the shop and bought the bigger variety which happened to be on special for $1.47 - such a cheap meal.
