My usual visit this afternoon then stopped at the nursery for some bags of bark to top up some bare areas in the back garden. It may need more but that's a start so shortly I'll be levelling one area which is too high before scattering it around.

Caught up with Marina this morning, then spent the afternoon shopping.
Things are still chaotic at work, but did manage to get together with Robyn and her DH for a coffee and chat just before my lunch break.  Great to meet them, even if it was only for a very quick visit.  I headed back to work afterwards and, much to Robyn's DH delight, they were setting off for more shopping!

It's lovely when you can catch up even if it is only for a short time.

Today I expect the next 6 bags will go further as the other areas are more narrow.  This is the next spot to be covered.

Thanks girls, another 6 bags have now been scattered but I probably need 4 more to finish that area.

Residents' meeting at the care facility today during which  I was publicly thanked by the DON and given a lovely card and voucher on Coles/Myer for my help on Monday.  Obviously those involved approved of this kind gesture as their clapping was quite audible.

This was followed by a great concert.  Everyone was clapping and singing along, staff were moving and grooving throughout the hour long concert, dancing with those capable and they even got a staff congo line going at one stage.  It certainly put a smile on our faces.

Judy that is so lovely. It sounds like a wonderful place. I don't think I ever saw a smile on the carers at the place Mum was in. The DON changes soon after she moved in and things went down hill from then. Sad for the residents.
I'm sure the people you took in your car really loved it, it would have been more excitement for them on their day out.

Nice one Judy, although  you would'nt expect to be rewarded for your kind gesture, it is nice that the DON acknowledged it.
Well done on your bark spreading, it certainly makes a difference to the look of your garden.

OK, I've got to ask, who, or what, is "The DON"?

Sounds like you had a really good time, Judy.  the acknowledgement was wonderful, too.

Bark never goes far enough, does it?  We spread some on our garden at Xmas and ended up using two truck loads worth to get good coverage!

I made Skinnymixer's Cheesy Pumpkin Puffs today, and was excited to give them to my girls to try. They hate them. I hate lunch boxes. I had so many wonderful ideas but my children hate everything.

Marina, the DON is the Director of Nursing - ours is a beautiful lady who often has dementia residents in her office.  I heard her ask the 2 she had in there one day if they'd like a coffee and how do they have it. Had to laugh at one answer, 'in a mug' LOL.

I probably needed a trailer load at least but buying the bags was the easiest (if not the most expensive) way of buying it. I hate asking people for help if I can help it and I certainly don't tow trailers.

Cookie I feel for people who are ruled in nursing homes by heartless DONs, their lives can be wonderful with the right staff.

Sarah I know how you feel.  I try healthier options on the grand-kids but they are not that interested.

DH was impressed with the before and after photo Katj.  So far the blackbirds haven't found it but I'm sure they will.
