Adding my best wishes for your DD's speedy recovery Cookie. The long waiting times can be pretty tense.
The bandaid discussion made me smile. I always carried a selection of colours, characters, shapes and sizes so the injured party could choose the right one for the real or imagined injury. Worked a treat.  ;D

Hello's & Hugs to those that need them.....I have so many threads to catch up on...I feel so out of the loop!

The wind here is just ferocious, and getting worse.....hubby has just raced out to a big fire, so wind is the worst kind of enemy.
2 minutes after he left, another one broke out in the opposite direction...they're going to be busy today!

I'm just cursing that cat of mine....after 2 hours of sorting paperwork, receipts etc. into neat little piles...he jumped up on table and knocked the lot off to the floor  >:( >:( >:(....he's not so cute at this moment....and I told him I'd turn him into a dim sim!!!  >:(

I'm booking myself and a friend into a cheese making class in May....triple cream Brie & cottage cheese....Brie...mmmmmm!....can't wait!   Buy so much of the stuff, it only makes sense to learn how to make it  :)......just need to stomp some grapes and I'll be self sufficient  ;D

.........EAT CAKE!

Hope all the patients recover quickly.
Bad start to the day - Riley the dog bit a girl on the cheek at school! I think she was bent over him trying to give him a cuddle, don't know what got into him, he's never shown aggression to a kid before. The girl's cheek was grazed slightly and she was very upset, understandably. I rang her dad to apologise and he was very nice about it, but I still feel just awful. The school has now sent out an email warning dog owners and parents to keep kids away from dogs and dogs away from the school gate. Riley wasn't near the school gate, but wherever he goes a bunch of kids come up to say hello. Now I think I'll have to tell all his little friends to keep their distance.  :'(
Working from home today, hopefully will get time to catch up on some threads, been a bit slack lately!

Oh dear deedub, that would have been so embarrasing and confusing.  :-[
Glad it was no worse and the child is ok.  :)

How awful dee. I think all dogs can be unpredictable. It's what all owners say when their dog bites or mauls someone.
My Harry was very "difficult" when DH first came on the scene. He would sit in-between us and growl and bare his teeth if DH went to give my a hug or a kiss. They are good mates now though  :-))

deedub - the thought that comes to mind is that the little girl, in her efforts to be so affectionate, probably inflicted some pain - poor little Riley . .  and the life of . .!!

Rather than the school seemingly adopting a "never the twain should meet" attitude - I think the school could have seen this as an opportunity to educate children on the approaching/handling of dogs (and it's an ongoing education - not just a 10 minute talk) - and to also educate parents to constantly be reminding their children of approaching/handling techniques so it sinks in.

Mich, Harry sounds a real treasure - just protecting you from that . . that . . . that  man! ;D ;D ;D

Oh deedub that is awful for you. He possibly felt his personal space has been invaded so gave a little warning nip.

Just got back from school pickup. Apparently all kids were given a lecture on dog safety and shown a video - so the school is treating this as a learning experience. Took the dog, but made sure I was nearby if a child came up to him, no incidents to report thankfully. I'll be keeping a close eye on him in future, make sure the kids give him plenty of space.

You're right GF, how you approach a dog is very important. I would get nervous too (and do when when I'm on kids ward) if a bunch of kids were close to my face trying to hug me.

That's really good, deedub!  Just try looking at it this way:  Riley has triggered an educational experience that may well have the effect of saving a child from a much worse experience later! :)  Well done, Riley!! ;) ;D
