Thinking of you Mandi, I hope Mum and Dad don't live too far away, hope that baby pops out soon so it's one less thing to worry about and a little bit of joy in your life.

Unfortunately they are an hours drive from the hospital and treatment. She needs to have immediate radiation (first one today) everyday for 10 days to try and shrink the tumor off the spinal cord, otherwise she could loose mobility in her legs :(.
We still waiting for the baby who is in no hurry to arrive at all now.

Gee Mandi, that's a fair drive for your Dad, as the days go on your Mum probably won't be all that comfortable in the car, maybe we can all suggest a few things that might help, like maybe one of those soft travel pillows that go around your neck so that when she is sitting in the car she can isolate the site from the chair, you might have to take some of the beads out so it is comforable.  Poor thing I feel for her, my late husband had radiation on his leg and we were only 12mins from the hospital and treatment, the treatment wasn't very long but the wait to have it was.
Tell your Mum we are all thinking of her and wish her well.  My late Mum had three crushed vertebrae and they aren't nice to deal with.

No they are horrible, I think she has 6 or 7 collapsed now. :(
And thanks for the advise. They think once the tumor has shrank she will become more comfortable and be in less pain. Unfortunately the cancer is secondary, so there is more to be found

On another note, I brought an aviary with 6 cockatiels on the weekend and was meant to have 2 breeding pair, but I can only positively identify one female with one unknown which sex it is. So today I decided to send some feathers away to be DNA tested to confirm the sex of this bird. (Only cost $17)
I discovered it pays to read the fine print first.
Any way I went out and caught the bird and easily plucked a few feathers from its chest to send away, but when I was reading the form I read this
Breast feathers are not suitable :o
Oops. So out I go again and pluck some feather from its wing (poor birdy) :D
Should know the results by the end of the week.

Poor Birdie, I used to have cockatiels years ago, lovely birds we ended up with three babies but I got over them and gave them away they live for about 25 years,

It is not easy plucking feathers from a live bird Mandy. I tried  to get a tail feather out of my Macaw many years ago and he was not happy.

I'm still in shock, I still can't believe that back pain can be something more sinister lurking beneath.
My mum is a strong woman and has a lot to live for, so hopefully that and the treatment will make this horrible disease go away.
Or at least give her lots of years of quality life left yet.

Dede, good luck to your Mum  for the start of her treatment.  Daily treatment is difficult enough when the hospital is close by so the added driving time will also take it's toll. Ensure you are all looking after yourselves and staying safe during such a difficult time.
