i will not be trying this agian for a while :-))
not to bad rosie. they tasted great thats all that counts. did you over fill them ?I'm not sure what went wrong. The batter was very runny. I only 1/2 filled the cases but they rose to over double size and had huge holes in them. :o :o I tried to get pics of them out of the tin but it didn't show as they cakes were so dark and chocolatey.
to make matters worse I made a big batch of the delicious fudge recipes from the forum and packaged some up to give as treats for christmas lunch guests, completely forgetting that DS is allergic to some nuts .... Luckily replaced with the cookies and cream fudge before I could poison him tomorrow.taking about poison did i tell you guys that my DH nearly killed me! The day i hade my teeth done he was incharge of the meds
Didn't even have a wine as an excuse for this one!
The ugly duckling turned into the beautiful swan Maddy.I bet it tasted good ;)
There are videos on U-tube maddy but the 3 that I watched just fill and roll whereas in the past when I have made them, I have baked the cake on a tray liner or baking paper, unended it straight onto a fresh piece of baking paper which has been sprinkled with castor sugar then rolled the cake, leaving the paper in place. After the cake cools, gently unroll it and spread with your filling then roll it back up, this time just using the paper to help you roll the cake.
This is DD's disastrous birthday cake. This is a double mixture and as you can see it didn't rise at all. The texture was like a mudcake when it should have been light. DD hates cream so the white is mascarpone. When I spread the mascarpone it picked up the sticky crumb from the cake and didn't look at all nice. I served it with berry coulis and the taste was lovely. I've been thinking of what I must have done wrong and the only thing I can think of is that I used plain flour instead of SR.is this the Bimby Chocolate cake?

It's not even a decent photo. I think it was jinxed. :D

sure does rosie, how funny is that ;DI got it tamed and baked and the end result was ok, But it was a surprise to find. LOL
Rosie your picture reminds me of when I left the dough to rise wrapped in the thermomat. It was spewing all over the place.
I haven't let it rise in thermomat since :D
DG :-*
A tip for anyone about to have a blonde moment like I just did...don't remove the MC and look down the hole when you're blitzing curry paste at high speed!
I didn't manage a photo as I was too busy cleaning my face and glasses :-))
dede it only cooked around the sides, the milddle was still very runny after 1 1/2 in the oven, the cooked part is very nice
hools thanks for that tip will try it next time
most recipes on the net for this cake dont use the baking powder, do you hools ?

I would of guessed something to do with constipation ;D
When DD was small and learning to cook she made her father some anzac biscuits and used 1 tablespoon of carb soda instead of 1teaspoon :-)). They were awful, even the ants at his work place wouldn't eat them.
I don't want to burst your bubble Amy but.......they are not real........sorry :D
I also buy home brand flour and SR flour. Don't buy baking powder, just add bicarbonate & cream of tartar.

I found some cream of tartar in the pantry a few weeks ago... I didn't know what it was supposed to be for and it's use-by date was sometime in 2007, so I threw it out ;D
I had a fun night, cold dinner, no photo to my ooops, broke a 1 ltr glass bottle of olive oil over the kitchen tiles, :'( >:( oil and glass from one end to the other, >:( 2 rolls of paper towel later and two good steam cleans and the floor is good as new, bugger the cleaner comes tomorrow.
Bugger times 10. Did it crack the tiles? Must have taken hours to clean.
Gert
It took ages to clean, DH helped clean the mess, the tiles are good as new, no cracks. It was a full bottle of oil.
Just topped the day off,DH and I both got stuck on the freeway coming home from work for an hour and a half, DS rings to say he is on the side of the road he ran out of petrol, (miles away) it was after 7 before DH and I got back.
was putting them on the window sill to cool and ended up in the bin.
Lol. Did you save any?i wanted 2 but my DD said she would tell if i tried and giving them to dad >:( TLS

I have to leave mine in the jug at night otherwise the cockroaches have a corroboree. I just hate that.
Gert
I have to leave mine in the jug at night otherwise the cockroaches have a corroboree. I just hate that.I'm with you Gert, But I keep mine in the lid and the lid firmly in place to keep the little blighters out.
Gert
They breed them big in Cairns, you know Toad races, cockroach races...
Must be the wonderful tropical weather... ;D

What kind of bikkies were they, Amy?

I thought of a layer of potatoes & this etc, like a potato bake, what do you guys think?
H
Might put it in the freezer for the boys while I am away, then if they bin it I wont know :)good plan H

Cookie, if you turned it 90 degrees clockwise the crack would look like a smile ;D
Oh my MIL is truly wonderful nearly as good as my mum, don't let the thought of having a MIL put you off getting married Amy ;D
That recipe definitely deserves its own thread :)
I'm happy with my mum and my DFM :D :D :D
When my DD stomped back home after their first argument, I did tell her it wouldn't be the last and to go home and sort it out with your husband.
Uni, you would be a wonderful MIL. When is the patter of little feet due?
How exciting Uni. Your daughter doesn't look that big. Probably feels it though.
What is the grandchild going to call you? Grandma, mamma, Nan?

NONNA
I put Nonna in my reply then deleted it because I thought it may have been Greek.
I hope she is 'living'in Pinaroo.
I hope she is 'living'in Pinaroo. No she is resting peacefully. Sorry bad joke. DW had a strained relationship with her mother and siblings. I like to say she was the white sheep of the family. ;)
I hope she is 'living'in Pinaroo.
;D ;D ;D very funny cookie

Is it yia yia for a Greek grandmother?
and then when I was making myself a cup of tea I grabbed the milk and was shaking it down near my leg cos it was a full bottle and really heavy - turned around and there was all this milk over the entire kitchen floor. I couldn't believe this - twice in one day. Lucky the mop was still wet. Gonna be real careful now cos things happen in threes.
I think I'm catching it now. I just dropped a pun net of blueberries on the floor of the campervan. I just hope I found them all
i nearly wet my undies from laughing ;D

P.S. Den......have you ever actually burnt popccorn before?
My DD did, in the microwave....they were smoking :o
House smelt for days, and had to turf the microwave :-))
so expensive. next time tell us you have your nuts in the oven and we will remind you to go and check on them

Looks abit like a murder scene DJ
it sure does. Did you lick it up or wipe it up DJ?
DJ what a pain, I imagine it's quite difficult to clean up.
Is your naughty corner big enough for 3 little girls astarra ;D ;D
Oh no Astarra did you get it out of the carpet?
I got busy catching up on here and forgot about my bread doing its first rise.
I leave the lid off mine now and just cover it with a tea towel.
They look like thy could be alien faces Rosie ;DTY Amy.
.... And while we're on the subject of "00ps!!"... Making some chilli con carne this afternoon- and after a glass of... Put in double the amount of chilli powder!!! Big sigh!!! Tasted it... And in the words of "faulty towers" - it'll "blow your %^#%} head off!"....... Now what?? Lol
You are really having a bad day GF. I am surprised the Le creuset broke like that, I have one the same. Will have to be careful with it. ;D
Marie
I don't have a photo but I made mayonnaise today, WITHOUT THE BUTTERFLY!!!
had to turn that into salad dressing by adding a bit of cream cheese in it... and a filet of anchovies....
doesn't seem too too bad! I hate waste!
more like #@^% &* *^ ** ** ^ ^% %#$@
what a shame maddy :( will u try it agian ?
what a shame maddy :( will u try it agian ?
That would be a NO Uni ;) My cheese patients is limited I feel :P I'll move onto something less needy next
Oh what a shame Maddy. At least you have learnt to grow fuzzy cheese;D I would have done the same in fact am off to pantry to shake my homemade vanilla essence, haven't done so for weeks, oops. :)That reminds me ... I had better go and find my vanilla essence too!
Yes, i was very relieved. My girlfriends hubby did this after she dropped hers. Doesn't look pretty, but works a treat and much cheaper option.
My Dh has suggested getting my Dad to spot weld the blade. Will see how we go, certainly cant hurt.
Worth everyone being reminded to watch the overload.
Maddy i would forget it too but have since learnt i need reminding so resort tomalert alarms on my iphone lol.. Works a treat!
Maddy did you open it before you tossed it? I might have eaten it. Nay I probably would have rinsed it and tested it first but it might have been fine inside. I have eaten worse.
Gert
M&M Biscuits ??? Huge, flat, burnt and not enough M&M's.
They don't look burnt, Mich.... How do they taste?
It's been so long since I made a loaf so I was very disappointed I didn't realise the no-fuss recipe was going to rise so high (normally make rolls with this recipe). I did line the tin but only with a small liner which obviously wasn't enough :-)) Luckily it's only for me, still tastes great ;D
Someone didnt grease the Bundt tin enough when they made TAT's honey cake. :D ;)Louis would say "Uh-oh!" Will look good with a thick coat of frosting Cookie ;) :D
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/12/7eredy5y.jpg)
Note to myself: Always label food containers in freezer.Had a great chuckle to myself Marie :D :D :D :D Been there, done that ;)
Decided to have some vegetable soup from the freezer so I took the container out to thaw. I was not feeling 100% so DH said he would heat the soup up for me. I did not take any notice when he said this soup is awfully thick, I just told him to put a little extra water in it and it would be fine. I can honestly say that Savoury mince soup will never be on the menu again. :-)) :-)) :o
Marie
I've never had strong dough like yours that likes to lift and tilt the lid, mine normally starts oozing out the MC hole :D did it work out alright DJ?
I have neer used bread improver. Maybe that is the trick.
gert
Yep all over the top of the cooker :-))
I always wonder about that happening when using my PC CC, did it actually blow the lid off? I thought they were triple safety locks or something to stop that happening. It didn't blow the lid off Wonder. It sort of boiled up through the valve and sprayed hot orange juice everywhere :-))
You may have to just melt some butter and pour it over then tuck into it. Looks good to me.
Gert
You may have to just melt some butter and pour it over then tuck into it. Looks good to me.Good one Gert :D :D
Gert
Me " That's Orange!!!"
DH " It's called Vintage Murano"
Me "It's Orange!!"
DH "It looked red on the colour chart "
do u have an AF CC ?No I don't Uni. I don't know where I would keep it if I bought one. :-\
As Wonder said CC, it looks great upside down.
The photo is there for me now. Was probably too early!I just scraped the bottom of the oven whilst it was still warm Denise :D :D
I think it looks yummy CC, hopefully not too messy an oven.
Your DH is adorable, Cookie 😄
Ive done the same thing before Katie ;) But when I pulled my bits of paper out, some tore off and stayed in the middle of the quiches ……. I just got people to pick them out when they ate them! I love the tin you made them in though - where did you get that?
PS: I just looked at that blog - looks like a great cooking blog! But I couldn't find the recipe for impossible quiche ….. could you post a link please Katie?
Me too, tin looks great, as do the quiches ( bit of paper never hurt anyone)
We should pu a warning on the recipe so we don't love any members when they see the finished pork.
Not a photo, but I keep missing the "set aside" instructions. That can be interesting for the outcome of the recipe.Been there ... done that!
Sorry Jam - but ROTFL ;DIt's OK Astarra, I did too!
Did you say "jolly gosh"? Judy.LOL Cookie ;D
A little bit harsher than that cookie! It took me 40 minutes to sort everything so it wasn't too bad a task.Good going getting that lot sorted Judy ;)
It's easily done Cookie when you aren't concentrating. :'(Many years ago I made my first pot of vegetable stock, but I obviously wasn't thinking or concentrating, when it was done I drained the stock away and kept the vegetables!
Not a mistake, just a new recipe :)I like that idea, Margaret.
