Desserts / Re: Frozen Custard

Just had to share, I made this today and mixed in some raspberries to the first lot and some home made chocolate brownie to the second lot. Oh my goodness, it was sooooo good!

Thanks ladies, I've been onto Quirky Jo who suggested it might be the bearings on the blades, and after a bit of fiddling, I think that might be correct. I don't have a demonstrator/consultant so have put a call out for one in the local area. Veeeery thankful I may just be out for a new set of blades, rather than however many weeks away from my beloved machine. Phew!  :)

Ok, folks, hopefully someone can tell me I'm just asleep at the wheel and I've done something that's causing this probem.

My beloved thermomix is not working properly, the blades appear to be spinning but it's not actually mixing/chopping/grinding anything. The knead cycle doesn't show up on the display or work and the turbo button doesn't work.

And so close to Christmas, I could just cry. (Actually I did this morning when I found out, there is a ton of other stuff going on right now and this just tipped the balance from omgosh, is there a full moon, to "I just want this year OVER!")

So, er, any advice? :-\

Bread / Re: Chelsea's Wraps
« on: January 27, 2011, 10:49:18 am »
I make something very similar, can't remember where I got the recipe, may have been here ages ago, or a link from here maybe...

Anyway, to keep them pliable fresh from the pan, I use a ziploc bag (recycle/washed, I'm cheap like that  ;D), line it with a teatowel then lay each wrap on that and close up the bag while i do the next one. The steam keeps them soft and pliable. To keep the plastic bag off the food I use a small container that I put on top of the wraps, that holds the plastic up a bit. Does that make sense?

And I saw a comment at the end of the blog post about freezing them. I've never tried to freeze them once cooked, but saw an idea to make the dough, divide it into the correct portions for each wrap, then freeze the balls of dough. This may not save all that much time for some people but I like to 'soak' the flour, so I need to make them ahead somewhat and that puts me off making them at the last minute. But I can make up a few batches of dough, let them sit overnight, then freeze.

My family looooove these, they taste so much better than store bought ones!

Found the recipes - has anyone tried "Crunchy Rice Crackers" or "Corn Chips" from the lunch box cookbook?  And the "melted cheese dip"?

Can someone please point me in the direction of the rice cracker recipe mentioned here?  :)

Mmm, this looks yum. I don't ever buy cordial for my kids, raw milk and water is mostly what they get. But, I make a mean lemon drink syrup....for mummy ;D....and may have to add this to my repertoire. I will share a bit with the kids of course  :D

Haha, I tried Jo's method of linking but it didn't work for me, obviously. Gotta work on that one.

This is the site...

I found this site...[ur=http://www.elanaspantry.com/l]Elana's Pantry.[/url] It's grain free from what I've looked at, too much agave for my liking though but you can tweak things to get away from that.

I winder if subbing a bit of coconut oil would help firm it up a bit?

I have made the marshmallow type twice before and man, they are sooo sweet, my sweet toothed 5 year old wouldn't even eat them! Might try these though, I have some plain puffed rice I need to use up.

The coconut oil title of the post caught my eye, yum!

I buy mine on ebay Aus, it is Banaban extra virgin coconut oil, organic. It tastes great and I use it in lots of things. It was not 'cheap'  but is a price I can stomach and you can buy in bulk AND it comes right to your door! What's not to love  ;D

Bread / Re: Kneading soudough in the TM
« on: March 12, 2010, 02:52:41 am »
Thanks for the replies everyone, that is some fine looking bread I see!

Well, I chucked out my 2 starters because I was just wasting flour on them and making bricks. I did manage to make a couple of good batches but it went downhill from then on.

I'll have to re-visit it though, I think I'll make my own starter and google some methods or rummage round on here till I find some. Maybe it was the method that was causing the problem......3-6 minutes kneading seems much more reasonable. :)
