Help! I stupidly put the plastic base of the TM bowl on a hotplate and it melted and is misshapen so doesn't fit on the TM properly. It still clicks onto the stainless steel bowl but i don't want to risk forcing it. Does anyone know if i can buy a replacement and the cost or if i have to fork out for an entirely new bowl??

Thanks in advance

Breakfast / Toasted muesli

Toasted muesli

Converted from Relaxed cooking with Curtis Stone. Its yummy!  :)
I didn't have any maple syrup so added more honey.

Ingredients

80g butter
3tsp ground cinnamon
3tsp grated nutmeg
½ tsp ground clove
50g honey
30g brown sugar
30g maple syrup
200g rolled oats
120g pepitas
120g sunflower seeds
100g slivered almonds
1 cup chopped dried fruit

Preheat oven to 180deg

Melt butter and spices on 60deg, 2 mins, speed 2

Add sugar, honey and maple syrup, 100deg 5 mins, speed 3 (the recipe says to simmer for 2 mins, i think 5 mins was long enough but perhaps it needs to be longer?)

Add oats, pepitas, sunflower seeds and almonds, 15 sec,  :-:, speed  4.

Spread evenly on a baking tray, bake 30 mins. (My oven had been preheating for a while and muesli was dark after 30mins so i removed it from the oven and just sprinkled the fruit on)

Stir in fruit.  Bake another 10mins or till muesli darkens. Muesli will be soft but will harden as it cools. Cool, then break up.

Chit Chat / Help me love my thermomix
« on: October 01, 2011, 12:33:29 pm »
Hi,

I've had the thermomix for about 3 months now and have only used it occasionally for basic things like mash potato, steaming veges, cakes, making rice and soup.

I don't have the most experience or confidence when it comes to cooking and I was hoping that owning a thermomix would help but I get indecisive, intimidated and overwhelmed by the sheer number of recipes and long lists of ingredients and then finding ways to use up the remaining before they go off in the fridge. I know my main problem with cooking is not being very organised, or trying to do too many things at once and getting stressed out but I am trying. When I make something and it doesn't work out and my husband or kids won't eat it, it kind of affirms that I'm not a very good cook.

Can anyone suggest fast, easy, almost idiot proof dinner recipes to get me started? I will be trying the

How has the thermomix made life easier for you in the kitchen? I'm sure i'm just not using it to its full potential! My consultant has been in email contact and suggested going to cooking classes but they are all on in the evenings and its not possible at the moment with the kids being so young and bed time such chaos.

Thanks very much :)

Hi,

Can you chop or dice carrots or celery in the TM? I cut medium sized carrots into thirds and gave it a second or two on speed 7 I think and ended up with what looks like finely grated carrot and celery. Another second and it would have been pulverised. I was after chunks about 1cm or so in size.. is it possible?

Turned out great, 5/5. The recipe makes 4 medium pizza bases when rolled thinly so if making a bigger pizza might only make 3.

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Anzac biscuits EDC

Hi,

Got my thermomix yesterday and made the anzac biscuits today. They were too sweet for my liking (and i have quite a sweet tooth) and didn't have enough oats, so will try to adjust the recipe next time. They spread a lot during bakign so try to leave lots of room between the biscuits otherwise they meld into one giant one. Nice and chewy though!

Hi,

Just wondering if you can use lactose free milk to make lactose free yoghurt in the TM? Its available as UHT or fresh in the chilled section, is like regular milk but heat treated with lactose to break down lactose first

TIA!
