Title: Protecting my Thermomix
Post by: rjsj on December 08, 2011, 10:41:44 pm
Hi all, after some help.  My TM sits on the bench next to my stove and I am worried about it getting dust and food on it.  Was very expensive so I am really keen to look after it as well as I can.  I have been searching for some sort of cover it but cant seem to find one through TM.  There is one advertised on Ebay, wondering if anyone has one or has any feedback or advice.
Thanks xox

Covers made for large mixers should fit the TM31.

This (http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h129/Basenjibabe91/HPIM4435.jpg) is a cover made for the 6-quart Kitchenaid mixer.

If you have a sewing machine (or know someone who does) it is not difficult to make one.  It is just one long strip front to back, with a U-shaped piece on each side.

Someone on e-Bay is selling homemade Thermomix covers - really seems to be pushing them regularly at the moment.

I can understand your thoughts in wanting to care for your machine. I use mine so much that no dust has time to get on it and most times if I'm cooking the TMX is involved in some way. Even if it is only chopping onion or something simple.

Perhaps just throw a nice tea towel over it when it isn't in use. I did thaty with my Kenwood. I did have a cover for it but then the cover was a real hastle to clean.

Yes I think I would spend more time taking the cover on and off than the time that it would actually be on my TMX. I have seen the ones on ebay and if you are concerned I do think they would definitely help with your concerns. They are after all our precious babies and we need to do what it is that makes us happy  ;) :)

Faffa, you express yourself so eloquently.  :)

I was also concerned that I would need a cover although I use it so much it doesn't have time to gather dust.

There aren't any listed at the moment DG, I just had a look for you.

Here (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Thermomix-Cover-Your-Benchtop-Special-Xmas-Offer-/130611770931?pt=AU_SmallKitchenAppliances&hash=item1e69117633#ht_690wt_1413) is the listing for one that has ended.

Wow, that's expensive for a cover.  Almost twice as much as I paid for mine.

I got my covers - for several KA mixers, an Electrolux and the TM31 from  this place in New Jersey (http://www.ebay.com/itm/CLEAR-MIXER-COVER-fits-KitchenAid-6-Qt-w-BLACK-Trim-/270873472412?pt=Small_Kitchen_Appliances_US&hash=item3f11512d9c)  Any that are for the 6-quart KA mixers will fit the TM31 without the Varoma basket - it's tall enough, just not wise enough - and you can still see the TMX!

And since they don't weigh much, the shipping should not cost so much and they do ship to Oz for less.
