I have just spent the last hour mopping up water from a burst pipe under the hand basin in the ensuite. :'( :'(

Fortunately we have polished boards in the bedroom and passage way which is where all the water ended up.

Then had to wash all the towels that I used which are now on two clothes horses by the heater.

Oh what a mess Margaret. I've never heard of that happening and even though you haven't got carpet in the area, if you were out and the water stayed there for a while, the floorboard may have warped - big problems then.  I hope you can get hold of a plumber ASAP, these things always happen at night or on weekends.
