So simple it is hardly a recipe, but here goes...
cooked sausages
mashed potato
Sliced tomato
diced bacon
grated cheese
pizza topper or other herbs of your choice.
Split sausages nearly all the way thru but not quite, spead mashed potato in, slide tomato slices in beside the potato (Or on top, whatever suits) sprinkle diced bacon over (or mix thru mash before putting in sausages) Sprinkle grated cheese over, top with pizza topper or herbs.
That is really just the basic recipe, you can add whatever you like. These ones have garlic powder in the mash, along with S&P.
DH loves chicken sausages with sweet chilli sauce in the mash before filling.
Pineapple is nice in pork sausages...
Make your own versions, the variety is only limited by imagination!! :D

Have you eaten them all? I want to come to dinner.
Gert
-
:D ... there are now 28 in the freezer, will that fill you up Gert?
See you soon... ;) :D
-
Do you freeze them fully stuffed and ready to reheat astarra or just the sausages?
-
Freeze them fully stuffed JD. :D
DH loves taking them to work for his lunches, he heats them there. :)
-
Do you heat in the microwave or under a grill? For something so simple I am asking a lot of stupid questions :-))
-
If they are frozen I microwave first then grill if I can be bothered ;), but if thawed I just bung 'em in the oven, sometimes on grill, sometimes just on bake, depends if I am cooking anything else at the same time. :D
BTW, there is no such thing as a stupid question on this forum!! :D :D :D
I'm just happy others seem to be liking the idea, as it really is just SO basic! :D
-
those sausages are fully sick bro ;D

Sometimes the simple things are the best. Yummy thanks Astarra.
-
My DH and DS are going to love these, thank Astarra
-
Is the bacon already cooked?
Thanks
-
DJ I sometimes do and sometimes don't pre-cook the bacon, try to tho just cuz I think it tases nicer, but they are still good whatever. My DH has just eaten 4 of them...after a dinner plate full of dinner!! :-))
-
Oh boy o boy my DH is going to love you for this astarra ;D
-
Yes I agree CC, sausages and mashed potato - 2 of my DH's favourites as well.
-
I am not going to mention this great sausage to DH or I will forever be making them.
Gert
-
What a great idea, I must try these. :D
-
Thank you all for your kind words - look forward to seeing some others try them. :)
Another thing you can do is actually wrap a strip of bacon around them before the cheese and herbs, gives it more visual appeal!
-
Made these tonight for mum and I and yum, yum, yum ;D
We bought pork, sage and apple sausages and followed your recipe adding a few sautéd mushrooms and took your advice and used some pineapple too. ( canned pineapple) as couldn't find fresh. My DH will love this sooo much.
Thanks Astarra for a lovely quick and easy meal and very tasty. ;D
-

Thank you
-
You're welcome :)
Glad they were enjoyed, arcadia. Thanx for the review. :-*
What did your family think, Obbie?
-
we all loved them.
such a simple idea, and you can change the fillings to suit.
Definitely a winner here. ;D

I finally got around to trying this recipe for lunch today astarra, sadly too late for DH as I know he would have really enjoyed them. I only had 4 sausages left so 2 for me and 2 for Mum but I plan to buy some more and make up a batch for the freezer to give DD next time I see her. I really enjoyed them, thanks so much for sharing this recipe with us. I cooked the sausages out on the WeberQ whilst I cooked potatoes to mash in the Thermomix. After they were filled I just popped them into the air fryer on baking paper 200o for 10 minutes. Perfect. They would need longer if you have refrigerated them.
Linked to air fryer times list.

Yummy Judy. My kind of meal.
Gert
-
:D Glad you enjoyed them Judy! :)
Hope your DD and her family enjoy too. :)
-
I bought some nice sausages at the butcher the other day so I must do these now.
-
will you do them in the AF cookie?
-
I don't think sausages should go in the AF. I haven't done them yet though.
-
Once they're cooked and filled you can cook them in the a/f though Cookie, depending on how many you make of course.
-
Astarra, these look great. Thanks for the recipe. Will try.
-
Very true Judy. I realised that after I had put my reply up.
-
Had these for lunch today, forgot to top with cheese though :-)) Still very nice ;D
-
They sure do. I would love one right now.
-
Oh yum Judy.

I've just found this idea and I can't wait to try it! I do cook sausages in the AF. Just pop a little water in the bottom (I have a Philips Xl) and don't prick the sausages. This is a great way to use up left over mash and would make a yummy breaky with an egg.

Thanks MJ.
