I borrowed a friend's waffle maker & tried this recipe. BIG mistake - now I have to either get my own waffle maker or conveniently forget to return my friends'. Very nice, especially with chocolate sauce & ice cream. Froze well too.

I'm going to admit something terrible...

I have never actually had a waffle :-[

So I was wondering if someone could tell me how they compare to pancakes?

I think they are better than pancakes, nice and crisp not soft and doughy Amy.

They're crispier than pancakes Amy, and not as filling I find. Which means you can eat more of them..... best not go there 

I guess you could describe them as a crispy hot pancake....especially nice with icecream, and drizzled with hot chocolate sauce or caramel  :-*  you can also top them with savoury toppings, or add savoury ingredients to the waffle batter.

I just got a cheap waffle maker from 'Chickenfeed' $14.99 - only makes 2 at a time but as I have never even tried a waffle either I didn't want to spend too much. Miss 5 has been asking for them in her lunchbox as some of the other kids have them (have no idea if she has seen sweet or savoury  ??? ) I also got a mini doughnut maker for the same price at the same time  :-)) Seems like I have a few recipes to find and try....

will have to make some waffles on the weekend. I'm not much of a sweet tooth but as a kid we loved toasting our waffles and then topping with ice cream and golden syrup.

Does this batter need to rest like pancake batter or can it be used straight away?

My batter recipe was a little different from this one, but I left it to rise about 15 mins or so.  Wouldn't hurt to leave it a bit Wonder even if it's just while you are getting everything else ready to make them.  :)

Made this last night before going to the gym expecting to rest while out but the mixture was quite airated (sp??) and thick so i felt like it needed to be cooked straight away. I only made half the mixture because I only had one egg, and they didn't cook up as crispy as other recipes I've tried but they tasted lovely and we all had some with ice cream.

Bumping this recipe - we had these delicious waffles for Christmas breakfast - served with whipped up ricotta, maple syrup and fresh mixed berries.  Absolutely beautiful.

I made 1 1/2 times the quantity, and although it needed a little help from the spatula at the end, the TMX coped fine with that quantity.

Leftovers warmed up in the oven for breakfast this morning YUM  ;D

Loved this recipe. I made the batter the night before and kept in the fridge until morning. I also cooked these in a sandwich press greased with a little olive oil spray. (http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160724/77fb8353ee0dfa3f3bdf890d9a6911cc.jpg)
