You're right about all the reading. One thing with an e reader no one knows if you are reading 'War and Peace' or a scurrilous french novel. I'll read almost anything except perhaps real sci fi books. Not into them.

Sometimes I think it's an onerous task but once I get on here I enjoy every minute.  Everyone is so good and all I have to do is shift a couple of posts round. If I make mistakes we'll have to live with them until Karen or TMXer are round. ;D ;D ;D

I tell the rest of the family "Oh I must do my am/pm check on the forum"  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes in the varoma. I hunted round and found an older style casserole dish I had and just propped it up on an egg ring. I ended up steaming it for about 1 hour 10 minutes or so. It firms up as it cools. Lovely taste with the port (I used marsala) and I used orange juice instead of water.

We tasted the cake last night when it came out of the oven and it was delicious, but very crumbly. This morning it is better. I'll definitely be making this again. Very little sugar or fat.

It is probably one of the richest boiled fruit cakes I've ever had. Very nice, thanks Colleen.

There's a couple of lots of postings on here about hampers. One is in the Christmas section but I can't find the other at the moment. I'm not as good as Judy. ;)

We love our e reader. Had another big download on the weekend. I'm trying to read the books I have first but I keep going back to the e reader. Like you Gretchen we have books everywhere. We actually had some cupboards built in down one wall in our theatre (we use it as the lounge). They are about 60-70 cm deep and all along an 8 metre wall. They have sliding doors over them. These are full of books. DD likes to keep some of hers but I read mine and pass them on. She reads more than I do so I have all hers to read too.
DH reads on non fiction. Lately Model A books. But he spends as long reading those as we do reading fiction.
It is so sad when children come to school and they have no idea how to handle a book or even hold it. :'(

The best thing is that sweet potato is low GI too.

Recipe Requests / Re: Stewed Plums
« on: November 29, 2010, 01:49:55 am »
CP63 I haven't done plums, I used them to make jam last year. I would do them the same as apples. I put them in with a bit of water and some raw sugar and cook at 1000 for 15 minutes or so. Plums may take less. I guess you could take the seeds out first or later. I do the apples on  :-:. You may need to cut the plums in half. Hopefully someone can help who has done them.
