Chit Chat / Does the TM5 come with a thermoserver?
« on: March 14, 2015, 11:23:28 pm »
Hi

When I got my TM31, it came with a thermoserver. Just wondering if anyone knows if it's the same with the TM5? I'm upgrading the machine but realised my consultant never mentioned it. I've got some thermoservers already but you can never have too many right!?! :)

Chit Chat / Which books to buy???
« on: November 06, 2013, 10:40:37 pm »
Morning all,

I've got $100 to spend on some new books for my TM and I'm not 100% sure on which ones to get exactly. At the moment, I've only got my (misprinted) EDC and 90% of what I make is now coming from these forums.

I've read some of the reviews online and here is what I was thinking of getting so far:

- Fast and easy Indian cooking
- Healthy eating with Cyndi O’Meara
- Cooking for your baby & toddler
- Rawlicious
- Lunchbox and after school ideas
- Cooking on a budget

Do you think these are a good mix? What would you get if you had $100 to spend?

I'm not 100% sure about the baby & toddler book as my little miss is 13 months and pretty much eats whatever we're eating (unless it's mega spicy etc).

Looking forward to your responses!

:)

At the moment sorbet is my enemy. We've tried making this a few times since getting TM - following the EDC instructions closely, but still end up with issues. Every time. Not once have I been successful in doing it.

In short, the blades are not coping with the ice when ice is used (or frozen berries) - they (the blades) seem to stop moving and the motor makes a funny noise. Adjusting the speed does not make any difference to this noise. The first time I tried to make the sorbet (second week of owning it), I ended up having to scoop most of the mixture out in to a mixing bowl and then try to do it little by little. In the end, I spent close to 30mins trying to crush the ice before I gave up and left it melt. I've tried it heaps since and the same thing happens each time I try.

Last night I tried it again, thinking that its been a few weeks so maybe it will be different and I even tried it without ice and just used frozen berries, thinking the TM would perform better without having to crush the ice, but the same thing happened again. Hubby was in the kitchen last night when I was making it and he maintains it sounds like an issue with the motor not powering up properly etc. He did say a few more mechanically minded things, which just went over my head, but I can ask him again if needed.

I figure I've had the machine long enough for it not to be a user error, especially as I'm following the EDC instructions to the letter. I figure I shouldn't have to be removing most of the mixture into separate bowls in order to try and do it. It just becomes a pain and then I stop trying to make sorbet, which is a shame as I loved the stuff made at the demo night.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I've read some threads about 'blade stripping', but not sure if this is the case here, given it's been like this since I got it.

I'm waiting to hear back from my Consultant, but thought I'd run it by you first as you seem to know EVERYTHING! ;)

Introduce Yourself / Another Victorian Newbie!
« on: August 12, 2013, 07:38:01 am »
Hey all,

I'm another newbie from Country Victoria. I've only had my TM 6 days & I have to say I'm not loving it. I'm devastated as I've been listing after one for over 2years! I'm hoping this forum will inspire me to get maximum use out of it.

I'm a Mum to an almost 11 month old. I'm due to return to work soon, so would love for TM to make meal times tastier, quicker & healthier.

I just feel I've had nothing but 'dramas' since I've had the machine.

Second day of ownership, I made butter chicken (which doesn't taste anything like what I had previously tasted at a demo). The MC has gone completely frosty and my butterfly has changed colour already. Despite washing the bowl several times by hand and then doing the vinegar wash listed in the book, my bowl/lid still smells like butter chicken. My husband is convinced he tasted fennel etc on his hot chocolate drink the other day. :(

I've also tried making the soft bread rolls, which just didn't work out. The chocolate chip cookies were also a bit off (but edible). Also tried the stroganoff and that was just funky. This is despite being quite literate and capable of following a recipe/pushing appropriate buttons. I just rang head office who giggled at me & suggested I don't know how to read a recipe. She suggested I call my consultant for another demo of how to push the buttons.

I'm feeling really disheartened and a bit of a tool that these recipes don't seem to working for me. I'm usually pretty alright cooking/baking. Why is this amazing machine being my enemy?

Like I said, I'm really hoping this forum will turn things around for me because right now I'm tempted to eBay it. I'm devastated.

Sorry for the whinge, not a great introduction is it?! :/
