Saying hello from Zan
« on: July 08, 2010, 02:51:39 pm »
Today I finally got my Thermomix!
After a lot of thought, saving, deliberation and research I'm very happy with my purchase. (don't ask how many hours I have clocked up on this forum already! but I have a lovely list of recipes to try and loads of tips and hints - thanks so much everyone!! I really appreciate it.)
I didn't expect to get her until tomorrow or Monday so wasn't very well prepared meal wise but I did manage mashed potato and steamed carrots (with the original dinner plan of crab cakes already prepared) followed by vanilla custard.
Looking forward to lots more cooking over the weekend.
I am (hopefullly) blogging what I am using the thermomix for at http://thermomixmeals.blogspot.com/, more than just recipes I hope to be able to create a blog that show the day to day use of the Thermomix.
I'm a WAHM from Sydney with three little girls and I'm looking forward to creating more 'from scratch' foods for them.
I already know a couple of people here (Carrie, snoozie :-) ) and feel like I know a few more very well from reading.

Welcome Zan. Glad you were able to use your TMX straight away and I'm sure you will have lots of fun using it and will join those of us who use it a few times a day. Look forward to hearing more from you and will check out your blog in a few weeks time to see how it is going on a daily basis.

Nice to have you join us Zan - with all the knowledge gained from spending time browsing on this forum you should be armed with plenty of ideas for meals.  Looking forward to checking out your blog too. I wonder if you will be able to get much done as a WAHM with the TMX calling you into the kitchen  ;D ;D

Thanks all. LOL Judy I think I've been neglecting the business a bit for the thermomix even before I got it.
And think everything will be neglected for the next week - with the kids on school holidays I hope they are hungry!!

HiI Zan and welcome! Great to see you getting your teeth right into that Thermomix the minute it arrived!

Love your website! I, too, have an online business and also do market days and the occasional show. Good luck with everything!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

welcome Zan. you say on your blog you wanted thinner custard, hope this helps you whip up a lovely dessert to go with it:

10 - 15g cornflour
550g milk
2 eggs
50g sugar

Mix together in the TM for 20 seconds, Speed 5.
Cook 6 minutes, 90 degrees, Speed 4.
Perfect everytime!

Thanks CreamPuff63, will try that one next time.

Have had a busy day with the Thermomix today, feeling much more comfortable with it. Made juice, porridge, salad, stock and hot chocolate.
