Hope the medication works quickly Hally, did he tell you off for not going to see him sooner?

Wow that's great new Amy.
Hally hope you are on the mend soon, look after yourself. Looking forward to catching up at the retreat.
For me it's been work, curves, shopping, jigsaw puzzle playing, now back at work. I was given one of the wasgig jigsaw puzzels where the picture on the box is the clue to what the puzzle  is.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

Today we had a meet and greet with my new occasional housecleaner/shower person.  She is very nice and should work out well I think (and hope).  As I will be at a carers' meeting next Wednesday when she does her first clean, I hope I managed to get everything across to her today - DH certainly wouldn't be able to help her find anything.  I have put some things in a bucket (my homemade cleaning products and mitts) so with only 2 types of cleaner, it makes things quite simple. She will do one shower a week for me commencing the week after next.

That's a step in the right direction. How many hours a week do you have?

JD, maybe you could leave some written instructions. Some carers find it a bit OTT, although I really appreciated it when I did home nursing. I didn't have to clean as such just wipe out the shower.

At the end of the day Judy, it's hard letting go and placing DH in someone else's hands. No one will never be able to give the same care as you do but hopefully with the right person it will be 99%.

I would pick a repore with DH and good nursing care over the cleaning any day.

This lass has worked in a nursing home and mainly does home care work but is not opposed to the occasional housecleaning gig.
I am only having 2 hours cleaning once a month and 1 x 1 hour shower/put to bed per week on a Monday night - just a bit of a break for me Michele.  I will normally be here when she is, just the first housecleaning date clashed with my meeting and seeing as I missed the last one, I don't want to miss another one.

That's good that you will get a  bit of a break. I didn't do a lot of evenings, although found that we didn't work much past 8pm. I felt like we were putting our clients to bed like they were 5 yr olds.(I mainly worked with the elderly and demented though and they were ready for bed at 6.30-7.00)  If it's only one night a week probably not too bad. Your DH has a TV in his room though so I suppose you could keep each other company in his room.

He is quite happy to watch sci-fi and history on Foxtel once he is in bed Michele - neither of which interest me in the least.  I have watched a football match with him occasionally but generally it's 'me time' once he has gone to bed. He's in bed by 7.30 at the latest every night, sometimes even earlier so he is quite used to it and wants it that way.  It's nice to get off his backside at the end of the day and he knows I'm only 1 room away if he wants something.

Sounds a good start. I am sure you will be able to ease her into your way.

My clener didn't take long to educate me into her way of doing things and I am glad to,leave her to it.

So long as she gets on with Geoff that is the main thing.

Well Judy, it sounds like one night off shower/bed duties will be perfect. So glad you are getting a a tiny bit of respite.

Got to start somewhere Michele and it is only a small care package but very much appreciated.

As long as the house is cleaned Gretchen, I don't mind how she does it either.  I will ask her if she would rather I buy certain products but she seemed happy to use what I showed her.

My gardener arrives at 8am next Tuesday - there isn't enough money to have him regularly so a good 4 hour session should tidy things up and make it easier for me to keep on top of it.
