Wish I could join you as well but, alas, distance prevents it.  Hope you have a great get-together. Have you two met before or will it be a 'first meeting' for you both?

I love LSA.  I make my own and sprinkle it on my porridge every day, I also include a good tablespoon of Kapai Puku and cook it in with the rolled oats.  For me, this is real comfort food and a great breakfast.  I prefer it to just any and everything else and it's full of lots of good, nutritional things.

By the way, don't be put off by the unusual name of Kapai Puku, it is worth giving it a go.

My oven temperature varies hugely - including on different parts of the same shelf - it drives me nuts.  I pretty well have to turn everything I put in there every 5 - 10 minutes, consequently, not a lot of cooking goes on in the oven.  When I persevere the end results are edible, but not as good as they could be and there is nearly always a burnt edge (or several burnt edges) somewhere.

Welcome, Kamian, this forum is great and will be a big help to you.  We will look forward to hearing more from you as you settle down with your TMX.

Whereabouts is Brooklyn?  We may have a consultant somewhere nearby who can help you.

OK, I concede, Mandurah is just a touch too far away from Melbourne for you to attend this presentation!  However, I think Cyndi may be based in WA, in which case you should be able to catch up with her at some stage if you wish - or maybe I'm thinking of Jude Blereau? - sorry if I'm wrong.

Ooopps, I just checked, I couldn't be more wrong, it looks like Cyndi lives in QLD and Jude lives in WA!

As Bonsai says, beware bringing foodstuffs into Australia, the Quarantine people can be very strict.  If you really want to bring something in with you you MAY stand a better chance if it is a commercially prepared and packed product in a commercially sealed package.  Whatever else you do, make sure you declare it upon arrival back in Australia so that if it is confiscated at least the declaration should mean that you won't get fined (but please don't 'quote' me on that as I am not 100% sure that that is the case), have a chat to the officials and be open and that should stand you in good stead.

CP63 I've have never made miso soup, and I know I should because it is full of all good things - is it easy?  I know there was a discussion on here about it recently but for some reason I didn't follow it.

Hi natmum, sorry to hear about your DH's appetite turnaround. I have always loved my food, but many years ago I was pretty sick and I can recall going without food for 24 hours at one time and not even noticing, I just lost all interest in food and nothing took my fancy.  What you need is something appetising but loaded with goodness and taste.  I think it was actually the pain killers that depressed my appetite, but I was rattling round like a pill bottle, so it could have been anything!

Could I suggest that you take a look at Quirky Jo's blog on quirkycooking.blogspot.com she is a fount of information and helpful ideas.  Although a lot may be connected to food intolerances, I think it is a good place to browse and see if any ideas come to you.

Heavy and thickened cream are two different things.  The thickened cream has additives to make it thick - not sure exactly what they are, but someone will come on with an answer to that one fairly soon.

Zan made some just a day or two ago - see http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=320.5055 (sorry, in a rush and haven't got time to look up the correct procedure).   -  JD, (from a puzzled Marina) how did you miss that??  Mind you, I guess Zan didn't actually say how it tasted, so maybe that's why you didn't follow up on that one.

Persevere, Penji.  If they want the sweet snacks badly enough they'll come around to good home made alternatives and, when their taste buds adapt to the home made treats they will not crave the additives in the commercial cr**.  You will have to be strong when you are shopping with them, though, and not let them talk you into buying the sweets off the shelves (and especially those placed at child height whilst you wait at the check out)

Kate, welcome to the forum and thanks for your input on the Thermochef.  There is a song sung by Tom Waits that has the lyrics "The big print giveth and the small print taketh away", looks very much like the Thermochef warranty!

Lucky you, Farfallina, having such nice neighbours.  There is absolutely nothing like produce fresh from the garden.  Enjoy it all whilst everything is still in season.
