Chit Chat / Re: What's for Dinner Tonight?

Kids had leftover chicken, some salad and a small piece of Tenina's feta tart, I had feta tart and brown rice salad. Too hot to turn on the oven, so reheated the tart using my sandwich toaster thingy - worked a treat.
Freshly churned vanilla choc chip icecream for kids for dessert - too sweet for me!

I made this using only 100g of sugar instead of 150 and still way too sweet for me! The kids didn't complain though. Will definitely make again, but cut the sugar down a bit more.

Bought a BBQ chook on the way home from work to have with the yummy brown rice salad. As expected, kids didn't like the salad, but I  did! Will be eating a lot of it in the next few days....

Desserts / Chocolate icecream from recipe community

This was the first icecream I made in my new ICM: http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/recipes/chocolate-icecream/40539

I substituted about 2/3rds of the dark chocolate with milk to use up an opened packet and it was lovely, perfect for the kids. Would like to try it with all dark choc, I imagine it would be decadently rich!
I like recipes that use whole eggs - already have a surplus of egg whites in the freezer!

I used this recipe for strawberry icecream, really delicious!

http://allrecipes.com.au/recipe/9436/egg-free-strawberry-ice-cream.aspx

I mashed the strawberries in the TMX before mixing with the other ingredients. Made a half portion to fit in my icecream machine.

What a great thing to do for your DS' fiancée Michelle, I'm sure she appreciated it.
Today I've spent most of the day in the kitchen as it's going to be very hot in the coming week so not planning on doing any cooking for the next few days! Also managed to tidy the kids bedroom & playroom ready for the cleaners who are back from holidays yay! Poor things will be cleaning on a day when it's supposed to get to 41 - at least they start early.

Kyton, DJ, CC & INAID - what can I say, your food looks amazing! Today I've made CADA, berry muffins, yummy brown rice salad, Tenina's feta tart and macaroni & cheese. With temperatures forecast to reach 40 over the next few days, I'm preparing for a no-cook week.

I bought a bottle of vodka 2 years ago just to make this recipe, and would you believe it has sat unopened in the cupboard all this time.... until today! Quick trip to the shops for some feta and it's in the oven now!

Hi Peter, there is a thread on here with reviews and tweaks of pretty much all the EDC recipes - just have a browse in the recipe book review section. I don't have the new EDC but I know a number of recipes in the old one needed adjusting, so this would be a good place to start.
I'm pretty hopeless at planning myself, but I know some of our members use Paprika which also has a shopping list.
Congrats on your purchase, and welcome to the forum! This a great resource for beginners and old hands alike, so if you have any questions, fire away.

2 people on my team at work are doing this, luckily they fast on the same days because they both get a little grumpy on those days! They both seem to skip lunch and drink LOTS of tea - they swear by it.

Really need to stay away from this thread, now I want to go to T2 and I only rarely drink tea! Love the idea of fruity iced tea for summer though - a very savvy lady I know mixes tea with soda water from her soda stream to keep her 6 kids happy. Hmmm I wonder how much a soda stream costs?

Chit Chat / Re: Whats your 3 Favourite Ice Cream recipes?
« on: January 11, 2014, 09:03:10 am »
I love anything coffee flavoured, also hazelnut or macadamia. Got my ICM 3 days ago, now have chocolate and egg-free strawberry icecream in the freezer which will keep us going for a while. In the meantime need to find recipes for MY favourites (now that the kids are sorted).
