This recipe was converted from Woolworth's catalogue. The recipe is Margaret Fultons.
I have steamed the fish, in the sauce, in the Varoma. I halved the recipe to make 2 serves. The original recipe was for 4.
1 Tablespoon of oil.
1/2 red onion
1 clove garlic.
1 dessertspoon of green ginger.
1/4 cup of water
40g. sweet chilli sauce
1 tablespoon of Fish sauce
1 dessertspoon of Apple or White wine vinegar
2 x 150g. Salmon fillets
Drop peeled onion, garlic and ginger on to blades and process until cut.
Scrape down and add oil. Cook 5 mins./100 o/ speed 2
Add liquids and cook 5 mins/100o/speed 2.
Place dish into Varoma, (I place 2 skewers under dish to allow steam to circulate)
Tip in sauce and place fish, skin side up in dish, and steam until done to liking.
Serve with rice and salad.

Chookie that is my kind of food. :-*

Cookie, I don't do many main. Meals but this is certainly one I will be doing again. It took about 15 mins. To steam.
-
DH isn't fond of salmon but DD and I love it. I'll feed him out of the freezer. :D
-
Is that salmon a fillet or a portion cut Chookie? Perfect sized dish for the varoma.
-
Judy, don't think that it matters. Margaret Fulton calls for fillets. I pick the bits that are triangular shape as they have less bones. Select what will fit into your dish. It is really yummy and I will buy more salmon or trout when i shop this week so we can have it again.
-
I usually buy the portion cuts Chookie.

I made this for the challenge. My salmon fillet was only 112 g but it took longer to cook this way than when I've steamed salmon before on the base of the varoma dish or in the tray. That's not a complaint as I really enjoyed doing it this way and having a nice sauce to go with it. I started off with 7 minutes then added more time until it was cooked to my liking which took 12 minutes (I would normally only steam a piece this size for 8 minutes). I don't like my salmon overcooked, I find it too dry but this was cooked to perfection in this time.
I halved the recipe, added 600g boiling water to the TM bowl for the steaming part of the recipe and turned the salmon at the 7 minute mark.
Thanks Chookie, a lovely recipe.
To accompany the salmon, I reheated your Pumpkin Spiced Rice (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5583.0) (which I'd made earlier) in a shallow dish in the varoma tray at the same time as cooking the salmon. This ensured the dish came together at the same time.

Looks delicious Judy. 8)

Very clever Judy. I like it when a sauce is created with the dish.
-
Another one to do when I get home - love that it's been bumped, as had forgotten this one!!!

I have a couple of pieces of salmon in the freezer, all I need to do now is remember to make it. ;)

I made this tonight for our dinner. We both loved it.Thanks Chookie another great recipe from you.My two prices of salmon took 15 minutes to cook and like Judy I added boiling water to the TM bowl to start the steaming process.I served it with steamed rice and green beans.
-
CC, glad you liked it. Good idea to add boiling water.
-
Thanks for the bump. I thought I had made this but I didn't comment, so perhaps I didn't.

CC, thanks for posting this recipe. I had forgotten about it. Glad you enjoyed it.

I still have a little pot of the leftover sauce in the freezer, I wondered where it came from LOL.

This is one of our favorite fish recipes. So easy with bags of flavour. The red onion I peeled tonight was rotten so used a shallot instead.Served it with steamed rice and broccoli.
