That posting was totally wonky as I had said a couple of things.

Ok this week I have spent $127 which is over but I went to the wholesale butcher and didn't buy much.  My freezer was empty bar the  400 gms of  raw prawns. Now I have put into it 4 lamb shanks, a very small leg of lamb. 8 chicken thighs bone in, beef cheeks, 400 gms beef mince, a piece of corned silverside and I have four containers of dog food I make this week.  Still plenty of room and that meat should last us a few meals so not much spending next week. In the fridge I have some  pickled pork .

Must look up recipe for beef cheeks.

Had lamb chops for lunch.

Hello Ladies.

Well today is "payday" and since I haven't worked this month that doesn't exist for me at the moment  :'(
What better time to start the Challenge. I think it will work best for me if I average my spend fortnightly (Since that's how I'm paid) And I'll exclude soft drinks from my budget because hubby and I do drink a lot of soft drink. Although I may make more soda stream versions on my current budget.

Wish me luck.

I thought that my freezer and pantry would be emptier by now too. I like the idea of a dairy week because at least half of my supermarket trolley was from the dairy section. I am also toying with the idea of visiting the supermarket fortnightly as i am about to start working on the day I usually go to the supermarket. It is just so hard to change habits of a lifetime.

Gert, do you have a pressure cooker? i made a dish with beef cheeks in it recently, and they were really nice.

Jadey, join in the fun. I've definitely been spending less money on food since i started this challenge.

No I don't have a PC nor a Slow cooker. Was thinking of slow cooking in  the  oven.

Gert, you do so well

When you live on a fixed income you do not have the option sometimes but to make an effort to cut down when you are expecting a horrendous rates  bill plus the electricity  going up so much. You have to make cuts somewhere and about the only place you can is in the consumables.

My week ends tomorrow but with DH away I won't be going to the shops again.
My total for the week is $110.87. Average = $105.21.
If DH stays away longer than expected then I'll have a no shopping week.

That's excellent Jen.
I would be happy if that was my weekly total. I want my entire shopping bill to be $100 though, cleaning stuff and toiletries. There is only 2 of us mostly so it should be achievable.

Jen that sounds delicious. I M hopeless at menu planning. I have no idea what we will have for dinner tomorrow night. We will have chicken again this week, pasta one night, and as for the rest, I will stick my head in the freezer and seek inspiration  :P

Today is my shopping day.  Yesterday did my annual shop at the Italian grocer in Melbourne.   I usually spend $300/400.  Yesterday spent  $114,  mostly on cheese.  Parmarsen ,  will cut in blocks and freeze.  This will last the year so not counting it.  Also went to the Chinese grocer.  Bought chicken bones for 50 cents a K.  ,  a duck for $12 and a packet of bean shoots. And a K of chicken wings for $2.   All for $ 17.  Had $40 left this week so still $20 under.  Friends came for dinner and bough a bag on onions .  I gave them eggs.   Love this challenge.
