Yes, they've got you over a barrell for anything commercial - loans, mortgages, insurance, different phone rates, different electricity rates, even rubbish collection.  Regardless of the size of the business you still get stung.  It's very hard to keep going at times.

its getting really hard to make a wage, and the worse is yet to come  :(

I didn't realise that electricity and rubbish collection was charged differently.

Did hear on the news last night that electricity is going up 20%.

and we are not allowed  to do the rubbish on the steert thing  >:(

Electricity going up was the motivator for buying a new fridge. I have already sold one and hopefully the other will go soon to defray the cost of the new one. Down to two fridges from 4 but no doubt DH will want  to boot up the  pool fridge as soon as it warms up.

We do not have a choice of suppliers here and already pay about $ 2000 a year.

Talking about electricity, does anyone have solar panels?
I would love to get some to help bring the cost of our power bill down :)

We looked at solar panels, but it would cost $18000 to install, so no we did not do it.

Even our internet at my shop is a different rate than at home.
Insurance is dearer for my shop (commercial ) too.

Car insurance is based on whether it is a  popular make/model, likely to be stolen...

Lots of houses in our area have them but at our age, I figured we'd never get our money back  :-))

I was looking at the solar kit that feeds power to the grid and makes your meter run backwards when there is plenty of light and we not using a lot of power. Would bring our power bill down. The package here is around $2500 and you can add on to it down the track. From what I have heard we would reduce our power by around $600 a year with a basic set up. I would love to get them. A friend is having some installed in the next couple of weeks so I will be interested to see what difference it makes to her power bill.

We looked at the panels, , it just wasnt worth it as our house is not in the best position. Of course we could have stuck them at the front of our house but woyld have looked terrible.

So far have spent $85.20, still need a few things but hope to be under $100.

We have had our quotes for solar too and have started saving. The price of power in Tassie is just out of control! We are working on lowering our power usage also. Shorter "timed" showers, heat pump on timer, installing thermal curtains over verticals, changing lighting etc.  We had an energy consultation and our usage was very high for a family of our size in Tassie.

I'm very happy this week. $73.88c and only 2 days left in my week.
That included $15.00 of non food items.
