Title: Tenina's Keeping it Simple - links to reviews
Post by: judydawn on December 13, 2013, 09:57:19 am
Thanks to Jeninwa, this is the index list of Tenina's latest book.  As soon as I get my copy I'll add the page numbers and once reviews start coming in we will link them to this list.

I'm sitting here with the book in front of me, trying to decide what to make first. DH thinks the desperate Munchie cookies, I'm thinking icecream. As we are out of both, but the more I read this book the harder it's getting to choose.

I saw the book in Dymocks Garden city this morning.. It was lovely to see it there so early. I'm sure my local Dymocks will take about 12 months to get it. They have a new manager and he isn't the best. :'( :'( :'(

My copy arrived yesterday. I was so excited and then the kids said "what are we giving you for Christmas Mum?"

So I have not opened the package. Do you know how hard that was???  I put it under the tree and said "there's a book in there you can give me".

Oh roll on Christmas Day, really hanging out to look at it!!

Mine arrived yesterday and I read it from cover to cover. I don't think there's anything in there that I wouldn't make. Everything looks so delicious and easy, and mostly with ingredients that I have on hand. A few specialised ingredients are used in several recipes, so it will be worth buying them.

The best thing is knowing that Tenina's recipes are thoroughly tested, and having confidence that they will work. I also love her style of writing and her introductions to each recipe, it's like having a friend talk you through it.

believe me it is hard! I am sure the darned package waves at me every time I go past!

I might add sticky notes to my pile of goodies to take away for Christmas day, that way when I go through the book I can tab all the ones I want to try.

Miss 12 can't wait either. She asked me this morning if we could have a few cooking days over the holidays. I said yes - as long as we make some things to be stashed in the freezer as well. She's happy with that  :)

I thought I'd share an SMS my DD sent to me last night from Melbourne :

"Tonight I held a dinner party for 6: entree Vegie sticks with pumpkin and hummus dip, main: Tumeric lamb roast, tabbouleh quinoa salad, smashed potatoes with a green sauce, and dessert: mango & orange sorbet and a coconut slice - all from Tenina's book, in about 3 hours. Just quietly, nailed it."

I know exactly how you feel CP. Mum and I try to cook together each Friday. It's something we started when I had my first baby. It was initially an extra pair of hands or someone to hold baby while I cooked. Now it's trying new recipes together, chatting and having fun. And it's amazing how many little tips mum has passed on that she hadn't previously shown me. I don't know who gets more out of it, but we both love it 😊

At last I have my copy of KIS; Weigh and Pay put one away for me so now I have some more good reading material. What a beautiful book.

Give Boffins or Weigh and Pay a ring WonkyDonkey - those 2 names came up when I googled but locals may have more information.  Welcome to the forum with your first posting.

Also try Dymocks at Garden City. They are pretty good with Tenina's books. Weigh and Pay is good too if you are north of the river. Carousel don't have it. If you live north of the river you can order from Tenina and pick it up if you wish to save postage.
