A friend came to drop off some jam jars. We talked about the potato cakes. I then showed her how I make them. She then helped me make some spring rolls. I used leftover Chow Mein with added mushrooms and water chestnuts. She took some potato cakes and spring rolls home and my little neighbor sat on the couch with me , sampled some potato cakes, and said they were the best potato cake ever.
I par cook the potato slices in the Varoma. Skin on.
Today I’m teaching a young man how to make SD crumpets and No Fuss bread.

Chookie it looks like you have certainly find your place in your new neighbourhood.

I made a new recipe  yesterday - Tomato Tartare.  The tomato salad part of it was lovely, not so much the tartare layer, so I think I will try it with hummus next week.

Last stage of the next lot of plum vinegar. The Nectarine and Blueberry Jam is lovely. I made 11 jars and it has nearly all gone.
Next lot of jelly with be Apple and black grape. Looking forward to the quinces which will come in the next month. Woolies had sold out 2 and 3 kilo bags of sugar, also jamsetta.

I've cut up another batch of tomatoes for chutney and roasted a tray full of small tomatoes with garlic & onions.

I couldn't sleep so got up early and I made the chutney this morning and then roasted another big tray of truss tomatoes.  Most of the large tomatoes are almost finished now but the truss tomatoes have gone mad.  I might try making some tomato paste next.

Ha Cookie. I like mine hard also.
I also made Anzacs yesterday. Macadamian ones. Also Almond Crackle Biscuits. I’m still learning about my new oven, a bit on the cool side I think.

I’d vote for hard Anzac biscuits too ladies, soft and chewy never did it for me.
