Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Re: Question on Scales
« on: August 01, 2010, 01:00:11 pm »

Also, my scale on measures in increments of 10 grams after the first 100...

that's right, but what you say about being out by up to 15 g doesn't sound right. tell you consultant so you can have it checked.

ooooh, julie, as always, you know how much i adore your recipes - always so well thought out and explained so there's no guesswork involved.

another recipe i can add to my collection which i'll be trying soon - i've loved everything you've recommended - they all work because your instructions are so clear.

thanks again.

ETA: i don't think there's too many steps in this recipe - i just think you've explained it well. i think it would have too many steps if i didn't have a themomix to make it with, though... :D mwah!

Chit Chat / Re: new owner - where and how do I begin?
« on: February 13, 2010, 09:56:39 am »
the first thing i did was to make some vegetable stock concentrate. that gave me something to work with.
then i made a couple of soups, and that gave me tha basis of many other soups.
risottos came next. omitting the mushrooms in the mushroom risotto gave a basis to work with - i could just roast any vegetable and top the risotto with that.
once you get those conquered, the variations are infintie.

Non Food Recipes / Re: Making actual bar soap (cold process)
« on: October 31, 2009, 02:33:19 pm »
i started making soap a little while after getting my tm, and the thought did run through my head to use the tm to make it, but i think i prefer to make 2.5 kg batches of soap, and that won't fit into the tm. size aside, i think raw soap is so caustic it would be awful to ruin the tm in any way with a little splatter of raw soap.
btw, there is nothing which compares to homemade soap - i is so nice to use i never want to ever buy commercial soap again.

thank you for another wonderful recipe, julie. while the thermomix has been a nice new toy, it is your recipes and photos which provide so much inspiration.....and drooling....
i remember one easter having the pleasure of eating hot cross buns out of the oven and have never had that opportunity again. now, with your recipe, i'm getting another chance to experience it all again. thanks
