perhaps you could try 380g instead of 400g of rice. i usually try and cook something in the varoma when i am cooking rice.

i find soft stir to slow and jerky and much prefer speed 1 because it keeps things moving. when you say "slow speeds" what slow speed are you actually using?

get it checked out by all means.

hi cookie :)
it has been a long time, hasn't it?

yes, speed 1 or 2, but speed 1 should do it. i hardly ever use soft stir - it's kinda jerky and each pause is an opportunity to catch ;)

give the pins under the bowl a dry - they're probably a bit damp.

i think the risotto might stick/catch on  ^^ and definitely  :-:

i still find speed 1 better - it keeps things moving so they are less likely to catch ;)

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Re: Fish stock paste

the salt would draw moisture out of the fish, but i don't know if that would be enough; just add a little liquid if you must. that's also a lot of salt, much more than what is in the veggie stock if you look at the weight of the fish to salt.
let us know what it's like after you make it.

can you post the recipe here? fish has its own juices; do you think that some of the liquid comes from that? i don't add any water to my veggie concentrate because the liquid comes for the veggies.

i've made it with thickened cream once, and it was fine. why don't you give it a go with one batch and see how you like it?
you could use some of the cream to make creme anglaise to freeze and make ice cream too. don't even try pouring cream into the tm with ice to make ice cream - it will give you something frozen and waxy! (bits of butter through the mix)

i just spoke to my friend in qld and she's fine and very lucky. she didn't have power for a few days, and in that time all the neighbours got together and shared food. no looting. i wish everyone was as lucky. i hope everything is restored in record time.

yum. i love honey joys, and i love them especially when i don't measure everything properly and have too much honey and butter and i crush the cornflakes so the resulting mess (yes, mine are a mess) is dense, sticky and chewy. i'm sooo bad....
