Hi Everyone,
I'm Melinda, and I live just outside of Canberra. I've owned my Tmx for about a year and a half now, however I hadn't used it a lot except for smoothies and soups. Then a couple of weeks ago I made the Thai Red Chicken curry from the EDC, in desperation as I didn't know what else to make for dinner that night and I luckily had all the ingredients! Since realised how easy it was I've been making sure I use it a lot more, and converting a lot of my current recipes over.

Welcome Mel B. I am so glad you have started using your thermomix for other things. There are heaps of recipes on here that are really lovely. Lots of people put up photos of their food too so that is more inspiration.
Let us know how you go with the recipes from the forum.

Hi and welcome MelB. :)
There will be no stopping you now, you will fall deeper and deeper in love with it - all over again! :D
Hope you will share your converted recipes with us. :-*

A warm welcome to the forum MelB :)

I've used it three times today..... Definitely loving it a lot more than I was.
At one point I was considering selling it, now I'm planning to take it away with us on holidays. Actually, taking it with me saves it from going on a removal van (we're moving to Perth in eight weeks) and will also feed us while at the in-laws (they're a very DIY family when it comes to cooking.....).

Welcome Melinda . Remember when travelling with your Thermothingy to keep it on it's side and not upright .

Hi Melinda and welcome.

I Melinda, welcome to the forum. I'm so pleased to see you are using your Thermomix a lot more now, it's capable of so much and is a waste of money if it is not put to good use on a daily basis.

Hi Gert, I noticed in your welcome to Melinda that she puts her thermy on it's side when travelling, this is the first time I have heard of this, why is this so. The reason I'm asking is because I take thermy with me when I travel south in Perth.
-
There's some discussion on this blog (http://www.whyisthereair.com/2012/06/21/travelling-with-my-thermomix/) Augusta and it explains in the comments why and when the TMX should be laid on it's side.
-
I did not know this until my Thermothingy has to go to hospital and the consultant was horrified when I went to put it in her car on the floor of the back of the front eat. She immediately turned it on it' side and when it came back to me after repair I made note of it being packaged in the original box on it's side so as not to damage the weighing feet. If you ere travelling in a caravan I would think that so long as it is tethered it would be fine. Never slide it along the benchtiop either but lift and position.

I've bought the Tmx bag to carry it in. I had no idea that it was meant to go on it's side - having said that, I haven't yet worked out how it's meant to all pack in the carry bag as there were no instructions with it.
-
Welcome Melinda :) there are a few of us from Canberra on the forum :)
With the travel bag, there is a foam part the goes under the tmx to raise the feet so they don't hold the weight during transportation ... hope that helps a bit :)

I just have a padded base, no foam piece? I'm going to a demo next weekend so plan to ask the Consultant about it.
I'm really hoping I didn't throw out the foam piece thinking it was just packaging, I don't remember!
-
Melinda the thermomix doesn't go on it's side in the carry bag. It sits up the right way. There should be 3 empty parts ( sort of) in the base where the legs of the thermomix go. This is to keep the scales happy. I'd photograph mine but it is in the van and that is all tucked up and hard to get to. ( through DH's shed!)
My bag actually has a foam base but they may have changed. It is inside the bag.

This is the inside of my carry bag.

Thanks Judy and Gert for your replies to my question, will definitely make sure thermy is safe to travel .

Here's a picture of mine with a piece of plastic with foam underneath...the plastic piece sits in the bottom of the bag and TMX sits on top. The cut outs are where the feet go and this takes the pressure off them...hope it makes sense.
-I could be completely wrong...I too didn't get instructions and this is the only way I could work it out.

Oh!!! I thought that was for the back section, and the hole was for the mc to sit in! I have that piece.... :-[ :-[ :-[

:D :D It looks like these bags should come with a full set of instructions girls.

They definitely should. Just a simple diagram would be enough.
Thanks everyone, for clearing up the confusion! :D Much appreciated!

Thanks Obbie,
Love your list of kitchen appliances in your signature. I've got the Tmx, Kitchen Aid and pizza stone, plus a million other gadgets and tools - wouldn't want to be without any of them!

oohh, I just got a vaccum sealer, and a dream pot last week too.
