I found this recipe on the fabulous blog: TickOfYum who are also forum members!
I dont want to post the recipe itself, because it isnt mine, but this is a wonderful paste, like quince paste, serve with cheese, or however you would use quince paste. You really must try it! Just dont lick the paste when it has finished cooking - it is scorching hot, as my tongue found out :P

TickOfYum - if you read this post - thank you for this recipe - and you should post it here on the forum too :-* :-*

Karen, glad to see you drawing attention to this recipe. I have made similar pastes from all sorts of fruits. If you follow the basic instructions as set out by Thermomixer in his Quince Paste recipe you can use what ever fruit is available.
-
A hint, also from Thermomixer I think, is that if your TMX starts "walking" put it in the sink and it won't go anywhere.
-
This looks delicious. I'm going to try it soon as I love anything with raspberries or appLe :)
-
Thanks for bumping this Karen. I do make Quince and plum paste but this will make a great addition. I vacume them and put them into the freezer and they last forever!!!
-
on my to make list, thanks Karen :-*
-
On my list too.
-
And on my 'to do'list too... especially now that I know it freezes well.
-
Thanks KarenH - looking forward to trying this! - and thanks for the reminder about the blog, too!

-
thanks Karen i used 370g :-)) fingers crossed
-
How did it go, Uni?
-
i made myself a baby one so it would cool down faster to have for a snack, i really liked it but i dont have anything to compare with
the big tray was still soft after about 4 hours and very sticky to cut, in the fridge now, will check later and see if easier to cut once in the fridge
-
Looks delicious Uni :)
-
thanks CC
-
Was the jug hard to clean after you had finished the cooking Uni?
-
not at all Marina
-
Uni, I found mine really sticky to cut up too ......
-
ok thanks Karen i thought it was because i used less water
-
I wonder why the individual one wasn't sticky Uni - it looks completely different to the tray pieces.

it was sticky to cut JD
-
What kind of container did you use for the individual one Uni? Was it a silicone cupcake liner or something like that? It looks lovely.
-
steel ones Karen, i was going to do tiny tiny ones about the size of a 10cent piece but was running later
-
I made this paste today. As I have hopes of potentially adding it to christmas hampers, I made individual ones using silicon cupcake moulds.
Mine seem to have set quite hard (but are still sticky) so hopefully I haven't overcooked the mixture. I was in the supermarket this afternoon poking and prodding the commercially made pastes to get a feel for how hard they were as I couldn't remember what the texture was supposed to be like. I tried a little with a bit of cheese and it did taste nice.
Any suggestions for how they could be presented as part of a christmas hamper?
-
Karen sent me a block of this via Katie and it is really nice. Because of the stickiness that everyone mentions, I have found spraying a serrated knife with canola oil (and your fingers on the left hand ;)) makes it a lot easier to cut. I have it wrapped in baking paper as it is easier to unwrap and remove to a cutting board to divide up. Thanks so much for sharing this Karen, I love it.
-
Wow Karen, your paste is such a beautiful bright colour. Mine is more of a dull dark red. Did you do anything different to get it this colour? Looks fantastic.
-
No VieveMS, it was just the apples and raspberries in there. Not sure why the colour is different? Possibly the type of raspberries?? I used homegrown ones from our own raspberry canes. I am sure yours tastes as good though!
-
I think this may have to be made. I would eat it on cheese, yummy.
-
Bumping this recipe - making it again today. Nice for Christmas hampers??
