Super Chef App iPhone/iPad
« on: January 15, 2012, 08:57:05 pm »
Has anyone seen the Super Chef TM app? Was only released a few days ago and it's free to download at the moment. I just had a quick look at it and seems quiet slow but I haven't had a real good look through it but seems to be quiet a few recipes.

I just had a closer look and some recipes are included and others have to be purchased.

I've just downloaded this app, and I'm either more technically challenged than I thought I was, or there's something wrong. How do you get to see the instructions/method for each recipe? I can see the ingredients list, the chef secrets, but no method?  There's blank boxes next to each of the ingredients, but nothing else?!!

Try cooking with the super chef, that might help hopefully. It has a picture of a super hero chef

I downloaded it the other day, have had a quick look while I was waiting somewhere the other day ... then stumbled across the recipes that I had to purchase (it seems to be $0.99 a category or $9.99 for the lot - SNEAKY!) and I have a feeling they are recipes sourced from the web and/or other cook books!! The gluten free bread is the Cyndi O'Meara's recipe...

You need to slide to the right to get the method  ;)

ETA - just looked a bit further, it has the Vege Stock Concentrate recipe in there, Tenina's Umami Paste recipe...

This app looks pretty useless to me. The translations seem to be poor, a lot of the recipes are inaccessible unless you purchase them and $9.99 seems very expensive for these recipes- the free ones seem to be sourced from Internet sites anyway. I  can't comment on the purchased recepies as I  refuse to pay this amount of money for recipes I probably have already. Is it just my imagination (paranoia?) but it just looks like someone else cashing in on the Thermomix bandwagon. I hope others can correct me if I'm wrong about this app.

That's my gut feeling to Merlin ... I am tempted to purchase it (and claim it on tax because I can) so that I can have a close look and post a proper opinion here for everyone (and also leave feedback on iTunes if I felt it warranted it!)

still thinking about it though ...

Just downloaded it, and think the same, someone else  cashing in, not paying for the extra recipes at 9.99 is a rip off.  All the free recipes are taken off other peoples blogs, like Tenina's umami paste recipe. wonder if they asked permission.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

OK I purchased it as it was irritating me  :o :o

my advice is DO NOT BUY this app, in fact I wouldn't even download the free part as that is just giving them some credit and they are just causing in - not only on Thermomix but also on our hard work that we happily share for NOTHING on this forum.

If you have it I would try and leave feed back.

I have still only had a quick look but this is what I have found so far ...

Antipasto Scrolls -  Cookie1's recipe from here - listed as taken from Cookie1's blog (did they contact you Cookei??!!)

Home Made Cottage Cheese - CarolineW's recipe from here - listed as taken from CarolineW's blog (did they contact you too??!!)

Beef & Guiness Stew - Riv-Mum's recipe from here - claimed as their own recipe!!!!!

Broccoli & Almond Soup - Kath's recipe from here - listed as taken from Kath's blog (bet they didn't ask her either!)

As I said I only had a quick look and these were the one that jumped out at me that I knew were from here and checked up on quickly. I will have more of a look and will be leaving a review on iTunes - will get DH to help me construct something  >:( >:( >:(

OMG that is so disgusting. Making money out of others hard work. Cookie, riv_mum, Caroline_W and Kath should be seeking compensation. Hopefully we can get the word out enough so that no one purchases the app.

Exercise is a dirty word... Every time I hear it, I wash my mouth out with chocolate

That all sounds a bit off to me. I don't even have a blog and the only place that recipe can be found is here on the forum. It's no skin off my nose as I put it up to share but they should ask.
If I was Tenina I'd be hopping mad as that is how she makes her living. Imagine taking her umami paste recipe.
They need a 'kick up the backside.'
