Hi ladies, I'm not sure what I am doing yet. I am definitely coming to the cooking class Saturday but can't commit to anything else just yet. As I will be driving up from Geelong for the day, I need to work out what to do with my car and if I need to return home before dinner! It's come around so quickly!
We're pretty close to the CBD and there is usually easy, free, parking around our place.  You could also park in our back driveway, but it is a nasty one to get into, however, it is a worry free option if you want to go with that.  PM me if you want more details.

Looks as though we have to cancel plans to come to Melbourne. DH had a heart attack in the early hours this morning. He is fine and I will have him transferred to The Private Hospital where his cardiologist is. They plan to do some tests today then hopefully home tomorrow and furthers tests as an outpatient.  Home to pick-up some gear for Don and then heading back to the hospital.

I spoke with Red Spice Road and below are the options which unfortunately seem a little limited to me and might depend on the numbers we end up with.

For either of their restaurants they can accommodate us  for the 6.00pm session which requires you to be finished at 7.45pm or the 8.00pm session which has no end time.

While the 6.00pm session seemed a little rushed for me,  upon further thinking maybe it would be good to have dinner and then go back to the more open (and probably cheaper) bar at the hotel for post dinner drinks, gift exchange and talking.

For all bookings in excess of 12 there is a requirement to order one of the banquet menus which are different prices at the different restaurants, and I would suggest the middle menu ($69 or $79 per person) which does include a number of dishes for each of the three courses but no drinks. I have this banquet a number of times and they have been able to cater to a number of food concerns including my no seafood without any issues.

Our other option is to have a private room at the McKillop St restaurant which  isn't limited by numbers but does have a minimum spend including food and drinks of $2000 so really only an option if we have in excess of 20 people attending.

let me know what you all think.

Thank you for all for your well wishes. I will pass them onto Don. Doesn't look like he will be home tomorrow, still have him monitored. Still awaiting transfer to The Private.  I've been sent home for the evening, to rest  :-)) I've always got by on little sleep.

Don has been transferred to Intensive Care. So hard to get information. I'm not allowed to see him??
I have been given very little information - a bit worrying.

I do hope you can get some more information from them Michele, it does seem strange they won't let you see him.  Can you stomp up and down and demand it?

Just bringing up a portion of a posting from Page 20 of this topic in regard to dining.

"Chookie has today received the following from Sarah at the Swanston/Welcome Hotels.

In regards to your dinner request for the 24th October, we could offer 2 Courses at $44 per person, or 3 courses at $54 per person and the menu would be sent out closer to the date."

Is there any reason we have not proceeded with this offer? It seems a pretty good price to me.
