Salad and some of the leftover noodles, they’re just as nice cold as they were hot.

K Atie, I only go to Ikea every 2-3 years so a splurge here and there is OK. I was after a memory foam pillow and they have so many different ones there, I don’t know about feather ones but they might have them. I have 2 on my spare bed but I didn’t like them, I need more support than they gave.
Like Chookie I also love seeing fields of canola too, yellow is a happy colour. 34

That’s good news for now Chookie, you would want the specialist to be honest with you.

Margaret I’ve joined you in the search for a piece of clothing, goodness knows where my item has gone as I remember seeing it only a few days ago. It will show up.
Cookie, I’m sure they will renew their membership once they’ve received your phone call. Today I went to Ikea for a new pillow. It’s impossible to walk out of there with just the one item you went for but I enjoyed my little ramble and only got lost once. If only their dockets were more like other retailers I might know down the track what I did buy, I couldn’t make head nor tail out of the descriptions. It know it’s all correct pricing as you do self service there and I checked the price that came up on each item as I went. I just noticed the clock I bought, it’s waiting to be put up - I’d already forgotten about that one! 36

I whipped up a quick meal for tonight using one bundle of hot Ramen noodles with a peanut butter/Mirin/soy/chilli sauce based very roughly on this recipe which I made over a decade ago and not since. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/cold-peanut-soba-with-chicken-1973884. I originally saw a lady called Claire Robinson making the sauce only version on a Foxtel programme using only 5 ingredients. My notes on my typed recipe were positive back then but I was surprised that I really enjoyed it tonight as my taste buds have changed drastically these days. Cooked the noodles for 5 minutes and whisked the sauce ingredients whilst they cooked, there’s enough leftover to try it as a salad addition over the weekend. Followed it up with custard and mango.

It’s so very kind of you ladies to try and help me with my food problems. I promise you that I will write all these ideas down so that I don’t have to refer to the links again - there’s more chance I will do things if I have them in a book I’ve started, hardly a day goes by that I don’t add something else to the book but so far there’s only 1 recipe I’d do again (a peanut butter fruit dip so not really food). I’m trying to do meals for 1 person when I do try something different (2 serves for me) so that I don’t waste as much as I have been doing. It keeps me occupied finding these recipes and every now and then I try something different, when it doesn’t turn out I just go back to my scrambled eggs, pasta or soup again. Chookie I like the sound of the Asian sauce, my best meal out was a Chinese meal and they were kind enough to cook the veggies soft for me. I can and will try all your suggestions but don’t hold your breath for me to report back, this hot weather makes me even less hungry and not wanting to cook. Thankfully I can eat quite a few salad ingredients. Bless you for caring xx

Love your bread cookie. I agree with you re the strawberries, I have yet to eat a sweet one this season although everyone Christmas Day said those in and on my trifle were sweet. So it must be just me. I bought a bulk pack from the freezer section of Costco for smoothies, they’re the biggest, ripest strawberries I’ve ever seen so are perfect for my drinks.

I found a packet of Lite & Easy spaghetti bolognaise in the freezer clean out yesterday so had that for dinner last night. Well some of it, I will have another meal of it tonight. It wasn’t bad, the flavour was a bit strong which is why I could only eat half of it. Every now and then I try something in a box and this is the first one I’ve been able to eat.
Marina are you doing anything different to a cheese sauce on those veggies. I’m really not enjoying veggies at the moment, sick of cheese sauce and tomato based ones too. Guess it doesn’t leave much else to try does it! 40

It’s interesting read what you're all up to post Christmas. I love tackling jobs that have been put off, once you get started you just keep on going I find. Have fun sorting what you have in those mystery boxes Marina. I decided it was time to give my tiled areas another good scrub, a big job but I started early and was very pleased with the result. Had a bit of a rest then defrosted both freezers, culling some food as I went through each drawer. Once again living from the freezer until I get the contents down a lot more.
Chookie I hope your a/c problem does get fixed eventually, lucky you haven’t had too many hot days yet. I’ve always found blood testing nurses to be a bit hit and miss, some are brilliant and have no trouble at all finding a vein but others not so good. I’d definitely be looking elsewhere if I ended up with severe bruising. Margaret I’ve also ‘lost’ pieces of clothing every now and then, it’s so frustrating. I usually find the piece somewhere eventually - it’s an ‘oh there you are’ moment when I do. 41

I’ll try strawberries, pineapple and the banana version too this summer Margaret, such an quick dessert to whip up. Half the recipe is still a little too much for me, I’m not keen on having the same dessert for 5 straight days - I’ll miss having ice-cream!

I’d be wanting to read that book then Marina, just to see what is tickling his fancy.

My best friend was Ukrainian cookie, she lived opposite me from the age of 7 and her Mum used to cook things like this. As a kid I would never eat their food though, it was all strange to me but I bet it tasted a darn sight tastier than what I had at home.

Yes the banana one is on my ‘to do’ list Chookie as it’s a good way of getting yoghurt into my diet, I now find it too tart to eat unless it’s in with something sweet.
Cookie your sponge turned out beautifully and I bet it tastes as good as it looks. 45

It must be fun going through those boxes and choosing what stays and what goes Chookie. I’m sure your pot garden will be fine, it didn’t take you long to get it started.
