Main Dishes / Re: Swiss Beef
« on: September 24, 2010, 11:42:07 am »
Thanks for this recipe, we made it tonight and it was really, really tasty. I definitely can see why people compare it to corned beef. I have to say, it is not the nicest meal to look at, but what it lacks in prettiness, it makes up for in taste. It makes a large amount, too.

These are in the oven cooking at the moment, the mix tastes yummo! I had some left over, so used it over some veggies for my tea. It was really nice. I used fresh corn off the cob. I put in an extra spoonful of cornflour to ge it thick enough, but this could have been because I didn't put enough corn and chicken in - I guessed their amounts.
Thanks again, I think these would go down a treat as finger food at a party!

Thanks for this recipe, we had it tonight with stirfry veg and rice and it was really nice. My sort of flavours!

I only needed marinade for one chicken breast (I still stretch one between hubs, my 4 little kids and me) so had quite a bit of marinade left in the TMX. So I added a little more coconut milk, some cornflour and gave it a quick spin at 90 for a minute or 2 until was thick and used this as a sauce for those of us that needed an extra flavour quick. It was really yummy. That is the reason I love my thermomix - I would never bother with things like sauces beforehand. Too easy.

Congratulations, what wonderful news. Between my brother, my sister and myself we have provided my parents with 8 Grandchildren in less than 5 years. Very, very busy times, but it is lovely they have so many cousins to play with. The first 4 grandies were girls, then 4 boys.

Just wanted to add I am not sure how much pasta I put in but probably not 2 cups, that might be too much for the thermomix's capacity when cooking the meat as well.

Hi, thanks for this recipe, my husband loves anything that has a can of tomato soup in it. We have made this twice now, but have just eaten it as pasta, rather than putting on the the bechamel sauce and baking- I am usually in a hurry. Today was in more of a hurry than usual, so added the raw pasta in at the 'add remainind ingredients' stage with some boiling water and cooked for about 14 minutes. It wasn't quite as good as adding in cooked pasta at the end, but still really yummy and all cooked in 25 minutes in the one pot, so I think I will be doing it like that from now on.
Thanks again!

Thank you we LOVED this. I was a bit skeptical about the steamed snags too, but this is the only way I will be doing them from now on. I didn't have beef stock so just used some chicken stock powder in water, and for the last 2 minutes added 1 tblspn of cornflour and 1 tbspn of gravy. It was a light coloured gravy but really yummy.
Thanks again, will be doing this regularly!

Just rereading my post, in case anyone was wondering, my risotto was 5 minutes cooked, not my sorbet!

Sounds good - I will try it soon.
I googled emmental cheese - and I think it is most like Swiss cheese?

Forgot to mention - I was doing a demonstration on Saturday, the power went out 6 times!!!!!! It was usually just a flicker, but the last time we waited an hour, and it still wasn't on, so we called it a day. The bread was just ready to go in the oven, and the sorbet was about 5 minutes cooked. Disaster!

We had about 40mls all up, but so windy! We have a couple of trees down in our driveway. My husband went surfing on Thursday, he said it was raining on him whilst he was surfing, and hailing on him when he got out.
The footy finals have started here for local footy, luckily hubs game was today. Yesterday, the A Grades final score was 5 ponts vs 1 goal 5. It was so windy, they couldn't kick a goal further than about 2ms away! They had to tape their ears up so they didn't get damaged, and a few netballers and footballers were taken to hospital with suspected hypothermia.

Comments: Living in a rural area, I love the fact I can use my Thermomix to make up many different things from basic ingredients. I love being able to provide my young family with healthy, homemade foods that cost much less than store bought. My Thermomix has opened my eyes to a whole new world of cooking.

Vegetarian / Re: Lentil Patties - ILB's Mum's Recipe
« on: August 29, 2010, 05:15:32 am »
Thanks ILB - we had these for lunch today and they were a winner. My 15 months old twins loved them, as did my 3 year old who thought they were great to dunk in sauce. My 5 year old saw what went into them and would only take the tiniest bite, which she said was nice, but she was scared of the lentils. My carnivore husband ate about 5, so that is a big thumbs up.
I used canned brown lentils. I sauteed the onion in the curry powder for 2 minutes then just mixed in the rest, on reverse speed. The lentils mushed, but the macaroni kept it's shape.
I added a few tablespoons on breadcrumbs and maybe 3 of flour as the mixture was quite wet ( I put in 2 eggs). It held it's shape really well when fried.
I am thinking these will go down a treat at our next bbq.
Thanks again!
