Title: Sopa mallorquina

Name of Recipe:  Sopa mallorquina (Majorcan soup) – not tested

Serves:  4

Ingredients:
300g white cabbage
50g olive oil
1 potato, peeled and cut
1 carrot, peeled and cut
1 green pepper, cut
2 cloves garlic, peeled
1 onion, peeled and cut
2 chicken stock cubes
Pepper
1 kg water
50g sobrasada

Preparation
Cut the cabbage unto pieces and put in the  *:.
Chop with 3 or 4 hits on the Turbo.
Remove from the  *: and reserve a little of it to garnish.
Put the remaining ingredients, except for the sobrasada, into the  *: 7 seconds / Speed 3½ until everything is well chopped.
Add the cabbage 25 minutes / 100° /  :-: /  ^^.
When that time has lapsed, check that the cabbage is cooked.
Serve the soup in individual dishes, garnished with the reserved cabbage and the sobrasada, which has been shaped into quenelles with the help of two small spoons.

Had to google sobrasada, never heard of it JB - a chorizo like sausage, right?

Hi JD, yes it is similar to chorizo in that it is flavoured with paprika, but has a softer, more spreadable texture.  Here (http://www.cookipedia.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Sobrasada_de_Mallorca) is something I wrote about it back in 2009 but I think I got the info from the European Commission as it has Protected Geographical Indication status.  It comes from the island of Majorca and coincidentally, we had some delivered yesterday.  You have to get it from specialist Spanish retailers here - not the sort of thing you get in the supermarket :(
