Yes I must admit I'm not a snake lover either Andie and would rather dispose of them than hope they slither away of their own accord.  Last year one slithered past our front door and was gone by the time I had got the spade from our shed.  I haven't seen one yet this summer, but am ready all the same.

i made this on the weekend, but used raspberries instead. i didnt quite have 500 grams so threw in a tin of passionfruit.

i was glad i was watching it cooking because it started overflowing, i turned the speed right down until it went down and then back up again. had to do that a few times.

Its a really really yummy jam. i had 4 medium size jars!

We went blackberry picking, but it wasn't a good year for blackberries. I only had 450g of berries, so I added 2 Granny Smith apples and ended up with 31/2 jars of lovely jam.  Mine was well and truly ready after 40 minutes of cooking.

The blackberries were growing wild on a farm in the Adelaide Hills. We were invited to a shared lunch on St Valentine's Day followed by blackberry picking. We had a very dry and hot December, so the berries were small and difficult to pick. It took ages to get enough berries off the prickly bushes to make a few pots of jam, but I've also got some steeping in vodka. ;)
We had a lovely day, met some new friends and had a long walk through the bush and spotted quite a few koalas.

Must try this with frozen blackberries; we used to pick them in the bush when we were children but now cant do that as the bushes have been treated and don't have fruit; they were over taking the bush apparently.

ES, have to agree about the quality of the BB this year. This is the first year in thirty, that I haven't picked BB.
Your jam looks lovely. I usually make BB jelly as the GC bony like the seeds.
