Made plumicot jam earlier today.  I am not sure it is going to set enough. I may have to put it back in the thermomix and reheat it then add some jamsetta.

Tonight I have Swiss Beef in cooking.

I am thinking about making some fruity icy poles. I have some dicey pole molds and handles from when the kids were little so I am thinking about strawberry/blueberry puree an put it into the mold.

Tonight I made corned beef hash using the left over corned beef and potatoes from our roast the other night. Whiile they were in the pan cooking I whipped up a mustard sauce to serve them with.

Yesterday I made a Reuben Sandwich for lunch using the corned beef , cabbage and some Gruyere cheese on sourdough rye.  They used to serve these for lunch when I was in the Marines. I never liked them back then but now I find them a nice change.

The corned beef hash is the same. My mother used make hash when we were kids and we always called it dog food. Now it doesn't seem so bad.

This sounds good but DW doesn't eat chocolate. I wonder if I could make a variation using something other than chocolate like pureed fruit?

Main Dishes / Re: Varoma steamed Corned Beef

I just made this and it worked great.  The meat was very tender. I cooked cabbage along side the corned beef in the last 30 minutes. I also cooked chat potatoes on the stove top. I was going to put them in the basket in the bowl but wasn't sure how the seasoning in the steaming water would go with the potatoes.

I also made the mustard sauce, DW even tried some and she is not a mustard person.

Cookie black turtle bean are a south american bean. They are a true black bean and are fairly small. The whole bean is black unlike the black beans used in an asian black bean suace which are essentially a soy bean with a black spot on them.

I have used them to make black bean brownies.  No flour just the beans sugar cocoa etc. I have not tried making this with the thermomix.  I will have to find the recipe and have a go converting it then I will post it.

JD the stone comes away very easily just like an apricot. The fruit is about the size of a peach or nectarine.  I thought it was a peacharine tree but my neighbor told me it is a plumcot. The fruit is very nice if you can beat the birds to it.  We have only been in the house about a year and the previous owner never pruned the tree so it is too big to net.

Chris just think about how long it would have taken you to make all of that food without the Thermomix.  More to the point you would probably not have made most of it and eaten pre-made food full of salt sugar and preservatives.

This sounds good. I need to build up a supply of jars and have a go at this.

Making JD's Veroma Steamed corned beef with cabbage, chat potatoes and mustard sauce.

I have a bunch of plumcots (cross between an apricot and plum) that I am going to attempt to make
into jam.

DW or SWMBO just found this recipe by google searching quick Thernomix desserts. I suddenly found an iPad thrust at me and was told make me this.

It is really good Jo and a nice change from the regular custard. I served it over some sliced banana.

Nola.....and where does one find a husband that cooks? ........I obviously looked in the wrong place  :P

I need to find a wife that cooks.   :)  If I want to eat anything other than toasted sandwiches or tinned spaghetti than I have to do the cooking.  It also doesn't help that DW doesn't come home from work until 7-8 most nights.

Chit Chat / Re: Has anyone preserved chillies??
« on: January 07, 2012, 11:23:03 am »
I have a recipe for glace chillies. I have not tried to make them because it is quite a processes. Basically the process is to make a sugar syrup and place the chillies into a jar with the syrup but it takes about a week and needs daily checking and maintenance.

It was given to me in paper format and is several pages long.  If anyone is interested I will scan it into a PDF document and email it to you.

Nothing from the Thermomix tonight just a good old fashioned BBQ. Steak, haloumi cheese and veggies grilled on the barbie.

Might make a fruity dream for afters, just bought some raspberries, strawberries and peaches. which have all been prepared and frozen.  Might try the peach tonight.
