Chit Chat / Pizza Oven Recommendation
« on: July 14, 2010, 12:02:00 pm »
Hi All
I'm thinking of buying a Pizza Oven / Maker - a electrical one that fits on the bench. Any suggestions about what brand to buy or what to look out for.  Are they any good? Any feedback appreciated!

Chit Chat / NEW KITCHEN ADVICE
« on: February 15, 2010, 03:34:42 am »
Hi All,

I'm hoping to get a new kitchen and at the moment I'm researching everything!  Any opinions/problems on 2-Pac versus Vinyl Wrap or on Caesar Stone?

Any comments appreciated.

Cakes / SUPER EASY AND FAST CHOCOLATE CAKE
« on: February 15, 2010, 01:32:05 am »
This is a super easy cake (even easier now the Thermomix!).  I make it at least once a week for lunchboxes.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups self raising flour -  210 g
1 1/2 cups sugar - 330 g
3 tablespoons cocoa - 20 g
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk - 180g
180 g warm melted butter

Method

Put oven on 180 degrees.

Melt butter in microwave and put aside.
Blitz 1 1/2 cups sugar in  *: for about 4 seconds on 7.
Add rest of ingredients to  *:  don't forget butter in microwave and  ^^ for around 5 seconds on 6/7 till combined.

Pour into 20 cm tin which has been well greased and floured (I just use a silicone tin with spray oil!).
Bake for 50-55 minutes.

We normally eat it without icing but you could ice with lemon or chocolate iciing.

* Recipe originally from Camberwell Primary School Cookbook

I hope I have posted this correctly!

Recipe Requests / What to do with Loquats?
« on: November 08, 2009, 10:13:56 am »
Hi Fellow Thermomixers
My very kind neighbour has given me a basket of loquats (a small yellow stone fruit).
Does anyone have any ideas/recipes I could use please?

Thanks in advance!

Hi All

I made garlic rice today - used arborio rice (which I now think was the wrong type of rice) since it took forever to cook and I had to add more water! :-\

Which rice should I have used?  Is short grained rice = arborio rice?

Kids still ate the rice but didn't taste very garlicky as I had added more water.

Thanks,

SYLVIA - MELBOURNE :)

Chit Chat / WHICH BREAD RECIPE FOR A FIRST TIMER????
« on: September 29, 2009, 12:00:47 pm »
Hi All

I only have my Thermomix about 12 days!  I have yet to try a bread recipe - which one would you suggest for a beginner?  I have bread tins from when I used to make bread with No Knead products and I'd like to make two loaves at once since the oven is on and I have two tins - is that possible in the machine - or would it overload?

Cheers,  Sylvia - Melbourne :)

Hi Everyone,

I get my Thermomix in 14 sleeps!   I have been reading over the site for the last couple of weeks and find it very informative.  Thanks!  Can't wait to try out all the recommended tested and tried recipes.
