I need a new kettle. The last one I bought looks really nice, its glass, but sounds like a plane taking off. Every time my DH uses it he says - gee, that things noisy -  which I find more annoying than the kettle. So time for a new one. Any suggestions?

I bought a whisper quiet kettle but it isn't quiet at all::) so I wouldn't recommend it my mum has one that has different buttons on it to boil it to the temperature you want not sure of the brand but it was a little expensive for a kettle but I love it and want one for mothers day ;D

Thanks for that. I've been looking at reviews and they all seem to say that the whisper quiet ones start off quiet and then go really loud. I'll look for ones that have temp settings.

I have the Breville one with the temperature settings. So far so good and it is reasonably quiet.

I loved mine Michele and it is quiet but mine burnt out after 15 months so I bought a sunbeam.
It's just your luck I guess as I have many breville appliances and that's my first and  only 'lemon'

Bought myself a little black evening bag and black top to wear under the outfit I will be wearing to DD's deb ball, only need to get some "bling" now.  Then spotted two jackets I liked so decided to buy them both.  I told DH I am worth it. :D :D

I also have the Breville kettle with different settings...love it, so far so good but its only a couple of months old.
I also have their 4 slice toaster, very happy with that and so far best toaster we've owned.
Love the different settings and slow rise...haha toast doesn't jump out of toaster anymore

I did read reviews and a couple of the Breville models didn't get very glowing ones, sometimes it's luck of the draw I guess
like most things we buy

Thanks for all the kettle thoughts. I'll have a look at the Breville, I like most of their products.

I'm really happy with the emerald green kenwood kettle that I bought earlier this year
