Help! My new Thermomix dial will not turn from open

I wondered what you were talking about fundj - cord in and cord out.  I just went and fiddled with mine and can you believe, I just discovered that you can push the cord into the machine  Mine weighed 25g with the cord in or out.

I'm not sure what is meant by "cord in" and "cord out."  I'd be grateful for an explanation.

It's the electrical cord. It can be pushed into the machine or pulled out to increase the length.

Thanks!  I'm at the beginning of the steep learning curve and need all the help I can get.  When the dial refused to turn this time, I just fiddled with the lid, as advised, and presto! it turned!  Now what's that I read about the feet.

I found a mat at the kitchen store, consisting of little bumps, with holes in-between, that could be cut to size.  Put some under my new Thermomix to discourage it from "walking."

Stay with it when you knead bread mairim as it will 'walk' a lot then.

Keep the feet clean or the scales may not be accurate and don't drag your TMX across the bench, lift it.
