Title: Any recipes for making bramble (blackberry) jelly using a juicer?
Post by: tyrella on August 05, 2010, 08:53:13 pm
Has anyone got a recipe for making bramble jelly (the clear seedless type of jam)? I have a juicer and am wondering if it would be a quick way of making jelly by using juice then zapping it in the Thermomix without the hassle of using a jelly bag or muslin.

Hopefully someone will be able to help.  Could you just use the idea of jam sugar and then strain it at the end?   I don't know anything about making clear jellies though. :'(

i don't know if Quince Paste (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3571.0) is similar, or whether you can see something about this on Thermomixers (http://thermomix-er.blogspot.com/) website??? and there was also a Blackberry Jam  (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1552.0) recipe on this forum...

Tyrella,  interesting idea.  Can't see why it wouldn't work.  You would probably need to add some lemon juice and pectin,  depending on how ripe the blackberries are.    Also use 3/4 cup of sugar to 1 cup of liquid.    When I make Blackberry jelly,  I cook the blackberries up  with some apples.  Then into the jelly bag. Good luck ,  let us know how you go.

Sounds like a good idea indeed. Using Chookie's suggestions it should work fine.
