Cakes / Cupcakes -help please
« on: February 23, 2015, 08:48:11 am »
My grandson turning 16yr is having a birthday party for 20 people. They all go round to each others parties, so while the mothers are not trying to out do each other, the best thing is apparently decorated cupcakes
At at least $2 each and apparently they have 2 each this is rather expensive
So. Grandma to the rescue.  I am not good at making cakes, just as well as we would eat them!   Does anyone have a very fail safe cupcake recipe and how to do that beautiful icing.
How long would they keep.. if the party was on Saturday, and I am working all day Friday - could I make them Thursday??
I will do the magic bean cake for the glutenfree.
Any tips would be very very welcome!

It was a lovely friendly class, lots of great food and ideas.  Also wonderful to put names to faces from the forum.  I have just made the salad idea for a picnic tomorrow.  I also bought more silicone single muffin containers  to make the delicious steamed frittates.

I thought I might try this in the air fryer. It comes from a slow cooker site... really great recipes.
This one is avocados halved, the stone taken out, and an egg put inside and cooked. I thought I might put ham or salmon inside as well. Topped with basil!

Chit Chat / Freezer mats

Has anyone used the freezer mats which are suppose to stop the freezer from icing up.  I think you only need one for the whole freezer?  I have two freezers which I am always having to defrost (reminder to myself... next time by frost free!!) regularly

Jams and Chutneys / Re: Miss Grunge's Strawberry Jam modification from EDC
« on: December 17, 2014, 03:00:51 am »
Just finished making this jam.  Perfect.  I had made it a couple of weeks ago and it was slightly runny.  This time I gave the strawberries a quick chop before adding the rest of the ingredients and it is perfect.  The colour and smell is amazing. Thank you for posting this

Thanks Emme for the photos.  My microwave of 16yrs is also a converter and I have to admit I do not use that very often, I too a bit scared of it :o     It will not fit a the muffin tray. I find it easier to use the air fryer to heat up a pie etc.  Maybe I should experiment more with it. You have got me inspired.   Thanks

Emme,  Can you cook muffins  (12 hole tin)  in your Panasonic Inverter?  I usually just use my oven for a roast chicken and muffins.

I too have an Easy Cook, but without the hinged lid. I have a small bench area and I find it a pain having to find a place to put the hot lid.  Wish I had paid the extra for the hinged lid

Last night we had the Asian Style Fish Fillets from the EDC cookbook, pg 104.   I love the taste and ease of the cooking.

I am back again, and all is ok after the colonoscopy.  I had had the bowel scan and it can back positive.  Thank you all for those lovely good wishes and yes it is the prep and all that water which is the worse part.  This time I had to diet for 2 days .. no fiber, then one day with just fluids.  This time a took a different prep which was a lot easier to take. Instead of making up several liters of the prep, this one was just 1 cups of the prep taken 1, 5, 9pm and many cups of water with it.
Nearly 2kgs lighter, what a way to lose weight!

Now what I am going to eat tonight??
