I have spent the morning fighting with a freight import company. Many years ago my grandmother left me a desk that I used to play at as a child.  I finally got around to having it shipped along with a couple of other family items and a few things that I couldn't get here (a porch swing) The shipment arrived and I engaged a customs clearing agent (recommended by the import company) as soon as I was notified of arrival which was only a few days before the ship arrived because they import agent had a my email address wrong.

As days tickled by I called the costumes agent and called again today, I was told it should have been cleared by Monday at the latest. This morning they tell me it was cleared yesterday and  they would invoice me shortly so I contacted the import agent who advised me the goods were unpacked on the 19 and my three days to collect them expired yesterday. I  now have a storage bill of $500 if I can collect them tomorrow.

I explained that they failed ot notify me because they had the incorrect email address, that their customs company only cleared the goods yesterday etc but they weren't interested. Of course if I want to dispute the charge I cna email them and they will take it to the CEO but if it is rejected I will be paying $200+ a day for storage.

I am not happy.  >:(

Sorry just had to vent.  :-))

CP I feel for you.  I get annoyed when the internet is slow, not having it at all would be a pain.

DD, that is ridiculous, they fail to notify you and sting you with storage charges???
Perhaps you could pay the $500 and then put your complaint in to the CEO and ask for reimbursement of the $500.

Den this is not an unusual practice in the freight forwarding/importing and custom agent business. They are well known for it. They  are also know to collude and share the spoils . Rock and a hard place.

And these agents are the first to complain about price fixing with airlines and shipping companies.

Count yourself lucky you had no problems with a consolidated waybill.

Just catching up,  Deedub make the most of your time off.   :)

DD sorry to hear of your hassles but as Gert says not unusual with those companies.

CP, can understand your frustration with the internet connection, had troubles myself only the other day.

Found out today that one of our freezers has gone to a better place and left me with a terrible mess.  Will have to have a big cook up tonight.  Freezer was only 5 years old . Not happy  :(

I have paid the storage bill and I am going to email them tonight to dispute the charge and ask for a reimbursement. I am not going to hold my breath waiting to receive a refund.  >:(

5yrs is really ordinary for the life of a freezer Marie. I would be writing to the company with the details of that. I'm sure they would want to know that their product has such a short life. I did that with a dishwasher I had. The baskets rusted out in 2 years and they replaced them free of charge.

DD, hope you get your money back.

DH often tells me stories of the container terminal at Botany. They have to book timeslot to pick-up, if they don't make that time his company is fined $200. Sometimes the timeslot is missed because of the queue of trucks waiting to pick-up containers and the warfies are on meal break. In the mean time the police are booking the trucks queued up waiting for being in a no stopping zone.

I was going to convert a recipe but all of a sudden I got tired and one of our dining chairs looked in need of being sat on cos it was in a bit of sun. Before I knew it my head had flipped back and I was in la la land.

The local removal company has a depot in Perth, they are going to pick it up and store it in their warehouse until they can deliver next week.

Sounds lovely CP.

I hope you can get your money back DD, what a cheek to hold you to ransom like that.

I received the results of my sleep study on Monday and it confirmed what I thought - I have sleep apnoea. Most of the sleep problems are caused by my breathing and my dodgy nose. I saw my ENT specialist today and I'm booked in for surgery on 16th September to (hopefully) have my nose sorted out.  Hope it works so I can get a good nights sleep and say goodbye to the headaches.
