Recipe Name: Brownie Milk
Website link: http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/recipes/brownie-milk/16922
Made this today, perfect replacement for chocolate flavourings for kids milk. Very easy, and no nasties. I used rapadura sugar, so has a slightly malty flavour. Made just a little too much to store in a 275ml sauce bottle, so used the leftovers up straight away. Yum.
Usage - 2 teaspoons per 1 cup milk as a start, more or less to personal taste.

Thanks - have you commented on the blog? It would be great if you could - helps poor Tenina - even if you just tick anonymous.
-
I'll do that now.
-
Yet another thing we can stop buying - so easy to make! 5 stars from everyone at our place! ;)
-
I've just made this, it's really yummo! DS and I are enjoying a chocolate milkshake together now. :D
I think I'll try to make the coffee variation next.
-
Might be just the thing to wean the kids of store bought milk!

Might be just the thing to wean the kids of store bought milk!
Recently we had a picnic in the park. Previously we would have stopped at the shop and bought 4 flavoured milks = at least $10. But I just mixed it at home and packed some cups. Much healthier, and cheaper!
-
I made this the other day too. No one could tell the difference from the real thing. I halved the sugar in the original recipe.
-
Really? Half the sugar? I'll have to try decreasing mine - I think I'd have to go gradually, as DH would notice otherwise.
-
It still tasted very sweet. But then we don't take sugar in our tea or coffee.
-
DH's favourite "cleaning" job is to get the dregs out of the syrup bottle by adding milk, swishing and consuming. It's a bit like cleaning the spatula from icing etc.
-
I made this today and it was really good. Think I will reduce the sugar next time too as it was a bit sweet, but overall really yum. I think it would make a good hot choc too, heat the milk in the microwave and then add the mix.
-
DH makes hot ones regularly so it definitely works. Also makes a great natural yoghurt flavour for the kids for a special treat, or over banana, or pancakes, or anything else you might otherwise use chocolate syrup on.
-
hmmm I really want to make the coffee one but would like to use expresso - I must have a go with it!
-
Do you mean like this?

Yes Cathy I did see that one ;) I was wondering about using coffe that has been pulled through a coffee machine....
-
I hadn't read the recipe properly, I see what you mean now. Let me know if you try, as I'm wanting to go off instant coffee.
-
This was good in the plunger as you need a whole cup of powder to make it concentrate enough to only have to use a tbsp or 2 in your cup of milk. ;)
-
I can certainly vouch for Chookies coffee syrup recipe. Not cheap to make but well worth the expense and of course cheaper than buying the cartons of it. Whenever I offer someone an iced coffee these days they always say 'ooh, yes please' and I have converted my SIL to love it so much that he even buys cartons of it when out and about nowadays whereas he never did like iced coffee before. Read my review on the thread to avoid coffee dregs in your syrup.

Nom Nom!
Made this a while back and it was a big hit :)
-
I made this today - YUM!! I took everyOnes advice and Halved the sugar (I used Rapadura) & the taste was great.
-
is the Brownie milk thick enough for going over icecream instead of the Cottee's Chocolat topping??
-
We use it as topping but it isn't as thick as most bought varieties.
