Post by: Prinny on November 02, 2012, 11:19:03 pm
Hi, I am waiting for delivery of my new 'baby'.
I live in Melbourne and have wanted one for years, but couldn't afford it. Thanks to my mum I will be getting it in 2 weeks.

Hi, no mum hasn't even been to demo, yet.
I have been talking about them for years and since August last year I became quite unwell and have spent months in hospital and she wants to make sure I am able to eat healthy and not spend ages in the kitchen.

That's a lovely story. What a special Mum. Im new too n waiting for my TMX also. Used some cash from my40th birthday to make the purchase. I'm literally counting each day till it comes. Its worse than having an overdue baby (i was 13 days overdue LOL) Hope the next 2 weeks don't drag for u!! Also hope you get on well with the healthy eating for your overall health.

Hello Prinny, welcome to the forum.  Great Mum you have there, think of all the goodies you will be able to make and hand over to her to show your appreciation.  She will soon want one herself when she sees what you are doing with yours  ;)   I hope you are back to good health now and your problems are behind you, that's a long time to be in hospital.

Thank you for the welcome.
I am so excited, have been dreaming of a thermomix for years.
Unfortunately I had to leave my job, so money is very tight, I still have to go to hospital every 4 weeks, so hopefully will soon be saving money and eating fresh healthy food.

I am very grateful for my mums help, she loves pumpkin soup, so I am sure that will be one of my first dishes.

Hi Prinny, I'm a Melbourne girl too.  Not far from Melbourne Airport.

What a loving Mum you have.  I hope you're health is on the improve, and your mum is right, the TMX will have you spending less time in the kitchen and eating healthy.

Where in Melbourne are you?  I'm thinking about maybe arranging a get together for the Melbourne members early next year

Thank you all
Chrissa I live in the east, at the bottom of the dandenong ranges. It's a beautiful area but summer always has me edge.

What a beautiful spot.  Far from me though.  Yes summers would make you edgy.

Hi Prinny!!! Yay...I'm so glad that you're getting a TMX. You are really going to love it! you'll have to tell us all about what you're cooking when it arrives! (the first thing I tried was custard, because I just loved it at the demo!...but I was very excited to try the sorbet as well...oh it's just amazing!)

So glad you're health is improving a bit. Wishing you all the best that it continues to improve.

Yes, I know what you mean about being a bit freaked out in Summer...my in-laws are in Warburton and they put some of their important possessions in storage over the really hot months. The Dandenongs are just beautiful at anytime of year..I love them in Autumn the most!

Have fun and chat soon xx

Hi Prinny and a big welcome. your Mum certainly knew what to buy to help you eat a healthy diet. Pumpkin soup is easy to make and your Mum will love it.. Make some vegetable stock early to use in your pumpkin soup.

Thank you everyone. My new best friend arrived yesterday. I am already giving it a warm welcome. I have made some bread and then made the strawberry jam to go with it. I also had to try the mashed potato, how good is the mash, yum. This morning I made some juice and then poached some eggs, all delish. I made some vege stock and will try a recipe from here tonight. I am loving it!

You are doing well so far Prinny.  I would never have attempted bread so early but I guess with all the tried and true recipes we have to choose from these days, it does make it a little easier.  Well done you  :)

Bread was my biggest phobia. Even when I went to demo I never thought I would cook it, but well I got over my phobia quickly and I made it first.
