Name of Recipe: Chilli Jam
Number of People: Makes about 1/2 cup... so double, triple etc....
Ingredients:
6 long fresh red chillies
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup castor sugar
1 tsp salt
4 cloves garlic
2 tsp fish sauce
Preparation:
Trim the stems off the chillies
If you want a milder flavour remove the seeds.
If you want it even milder again, soak the chillies in hot water for 15 minutes and then drain.
Put all the ingredients in the TMX and process 10secs on speed 7.
Heat for 15mins at 100 degrees on speed 1. (keep an eye on it as you dont want Chilli paste). Time really just depends on juiciness of Chillies.
Pour into sterilized jar/s.

Thanks Alina - good hints about the heat in the chilli - and yes it gets 5 points for the book draw.

i LURVE chilli jam *drool*
-
Would it be possible to move this to the jam thread, now that we have one? Pretty please?
-
This would be great to add to a fried rice for an easy nasi goreng type meal.
-
Ok I'll do a silly question: ???
How is this jam served? - on bread or for something specific?
I found the recipe interesting and would love if someone could explain it to me!
Either way I will do tomorrow since I have plenty of Chillis to transform! :)

Yes you can have it on bread. It is very nice with cheese on toasted or grilled sandwiches. It also nice served in a little bowl with cheese, fruit and crackers. :)

Some more ideas to think about here isi

Thanks JD - great ideas - you need to click on the Recipes tab for some reason?
-
I got no actual recipes when clicking on the recipe tab Thermomixer and I have retyped the URL as it wasn't working properly for me - it should now give you a list of ideas for using chilli jam.
-
Thanks JD - strange. the link looked OK, but just took you to the home page - computers !!!!!
-
Ohhh I hadn't seen this one before. Chilli Jam has been on my ever growing "to do list" to make for stirfry's. Yumm
-
isn't it wonderful how the recipes are rolling in for those dishes that you thought " one day I'll try to convert that to TMX lingo" and then next thing it is there ?
Also funny that I have just realised that 3 of the recipes that i have "created" are in TMX books already - just didn't think to look in the right place - really need a database of all TMX recipes. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
-
Yes - a universal database!
-
Thanks Judy!
That is sooo great and now I even more desire to do this!
-
Yes - a universal database!
Maybe we can share using our different recipe software? I know I can email and export out of Living Cookbook. That's how I send mum the ones I think she'll like.
-
You are all very technologically clever. I would have no hope. :'(
-
I have just made this, my first ever jam making experience :D
I doubled the quantity, so far it seems like a kind of sweet chilli sauce...maybe I should have cooked it more? maybe it will set more as it cools...?
I should really make something that I know what it's meant to look like :P
Just wanted to say that either way its DELICIOUS! I used the whole chilli, seeds and all and I found it quite mild.
Thanks for the inspiration!
-
Is it more like a dipping sauce NomesFog. I am looking to make myself a batch as I seem to be buying a lot more of it these days. The mildness you mention would suit me too.

That rumbling you now all hear is my laughter :D :D :D :D - initially (only for a moment ha, ha!!!)I thought after reading the above quotes and then reading Isi's post Thanks Judy!
That is sooo great and now I even more desire to do this!
- how applicable, Judy's extensive recipe collection and forum activity classified as a data base - so thanks Judy even in the absence of a data base!!!!!!!!!! Perhaps it is time for bed. :) :) :)
-
This is soooo delicious - I can't make enough of it - everyone wants me to make some for them ;D
Lucky chilli's are plentiful at the moment.
Just love the recipe!!!!! Each time it's a little different but either way it's just so lovely that we use it as a condiment for most meals.

I made this 3 years ago when I first got my TMX, and today I can't believe I've left it so long before making it again.
So yummy, I want to put it on everything! I'll make a double batch next time. :)

I wonder if we could use this on our pizza bases girls?
-
Made this last night and looks good :)
-
I'm pretty sure Chookie has Yvette. You could mix some chilli sauce with sour cream as a base too couldn't you?
-
Yes good idea Judy thanks :) :)
-
