Hi everyone, I have a quick question- I've been looking up good raw chocolate recipes and it seems cacao wafers are the way to go. BUT they are terribly expensive. Do you guys know where i can find the product cheaper or is there a substitue/ equivalent product of a different name that I can use instead?
Thanks muchly!

Hi bgn, I have not heard of cacao wafers but quirky Jo has a raw chocolate recipe on her blog that is on my to do list. It uses raw cacao butter and cacao powder with a list of suppliers. http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com.au (http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com)

Not sure, but crio bru might be a substitute? It's 100% ground cocoa beans www.criobru.com.au

Good thinking.
I saw quirky jo's recipe using cacao wafers. It does look very nice.

I know this topic hasn't been looked at for a long time, but I'm wondering if anyone has a good substitution for cacao wafers. They're so expensive. I just want to make raw chocolate, nut and date bars. I've made raw chocolate using QJ's recipe, but I really dislike the taste and mouth feel of cocoa butter. Any suggestions? Coconut oil will make them too soft.

I know this is an old post, but Honest to Goodness has Cacao wafers. I buy them in 5kgs bags, they do have smaller sizes. They are cheaper if you get wholesale, but I am in a co-op, so we can get wholesale prices. For wholesale the orders have to be $500 or more. I think I get 5kgs for about $116 - ish. They do have the chunks as well, but they are way too hard to cut up.
Honest to Goodness do deliver along the east coast of Australia, I think! Don't quote me on that, but you can always ask.
The website is: https://www.goodness.com.au/
I just looked and retail for 5kgs is $157.45
