Title: Peach and passionfruit jam
Post by: riv_mum on January 27, 2009, 04:52:34 am
Saw somewhere that someone had heaps of peaches so thought i would put this recipe up. Found it on the spanish forum site, from the simply spectacular book.

Makes 600g but could easily be doubled or possibly tripled.

500 grams of peaches, halved
1 lemon peeled without any skin or seeds
150 grams of passionfruit pulp
500g sugar

Put all the ingredients into the TM bowl and chop for 5 seconds, speed 5.
Cook for 30 minutes, 100 º, Speed 1.
Pour into steralised jars
Keep in a glass jar in the refrigerator.

Havent tried this one yet myself but is on the menu for this arvo! Will let you know how it goes.

Ok this one is in the machine as we speak and smelling divine!
HOWEVER this is def not a recipe that you can double and the 600g that the original recipe said is far from the actual amount made - about 2l.
I found that i had to chop half the peaches first to fit the rest into the machine!!
I also like my jam to be on the chunkier side so did not process as long.
Will tell you how it tastes soon!

Jam complete!
Needed an extra 15min of cooking time but thickened up nicely. I added only half the amount of sugar and it was perfect! not too sweet. I also only used the juice of lemon rather than the whole fruit. I have found with jam in the past the even if i remove the pith of the lemon it still has a bitter taste.
Will be making this one again!

Riv_Mum and Karen, did you peel the peaches when you made this jam please?  I plan to make it over the weekend. Thanks :)

Thank you both.  I'll decide which to do when I actually make it tomorrow.  Will probably leave the skin on-it'll save time.

Oh wow, that sounds so yummy! I hope my TMX arrives soon! I put the order in on Thursday, so maybe I'll get a call tomorrow night or Wednesday night?

Hang in there Ayla it will be here soon!!!

I made the Peach and Passionfruit jam and the taste is lovely. I made mine a little too thin but it is still fine for jam, or daughter often has it on icecream as a topping.  I only used half the amoount of sugar too and the extra 15 minutes of cooking time, but should have cooked it a bit longer.

I made peach jam yesterday, just peaches and sugar.  About 850gm peach (destoned) almost filled the jug, and 300g of sugar.  Cooked on varoma for about 45mins.  Absolutely devine.

I always ask my local fruit shop for their "jam" fruit.  They go through the boxes and pick out the ones others would dodge, and give me a fantastic price.  So my peaches were half price.  Ended up with about 500g jam for about $3.

Thanks for reminding us of this jam. Mine was a bit runny last year as I was rather new with the TMX. It had a lovely flavour though. I think I'll do it again.
