Your right Gert,  not bargains unless you need them.

I am going through bits and pieces but I have spent a lot on fresh produce this week. Back from holidays so needed to stock up on fresh items. Total this week $158.69. Biggest exp fruit & veg & dairy.

I did a freezer clean up, One chest freezer is full to the top with meat &  the other has frozen meals & containers and a few boxes of chicken strips. Yet to do the 2 fridge freezers.

A good idea Jo, most people seem to shop on the same day every week but if you can eke it out for a day or two longer you eventually end up in front.

I got a good tip from a patient today - We were talking freezers and how it is more economical to run them when full.
She suggested that you fill the empty spaces with 2 litre plastic milk or soft drink bottles filled with water until ready to defrost and refill.  :D

Also a good extra supply of emergency water!
DH uses that theory a reasoning for keeping the beer fridge well stocked too  ;)

I'd heard that too Michele but I still don't have enough spaces in mine to need to do it yet.

Well, delaying the weekly shop has worked out even better than expected - I generally shop online but have no suitable times for delivery this week, so have ordered it to come on Monday.  So this week's shop = $0!!!

Monday's delivery is $180, so not too far over my $150 per week guide.  Quite a few dearer, re-stocking-the-pantry items too (cheese, olive oil, coffee...).  Pretty happy with that, wonder if I can do it more.  Might plan for my next delivery to be Thursday 2 weeks from today, so a 10 day gap.

Jo,  good thinking.  Congrats.  I saved enough in the last 2 week to buy a new Microwave.  It was on special and came with a bonus $70 Tupperware.

Even hosting 2 ' mothers Days' I spent just $60. This is very good for me.  I refused to pay $7 a kilo for broccoli so bought some frozen veggies.
